I have a feeling Wardley is going to be the crowd favourite tonight,

That actually might make an interesting topic of discussion. Heavyweight Champions who were a little jiggly in the middle and Heavyweight Champions who had 6 pack abs. Which was their more of?gregregegg wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:18Without a weight limit and without drugs having a bit of jiggle is optimum for many body types. You just can’t train hard and consistently on a caloric deficit, and so for many the extra energy training is worth carrying around 10lb of padding…overhand_right wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:04 So this is Olaniyan? Why's his belly so soft and jiggly? He's a professional full time athlete and he's 20.
FFS i thought Usyk had brought the curtain down on the era of long gangly goon-like fatties.
Everyone that grew up watching little heavyweights in the 70s/80s or juiced as fornicate heavyweights in the 90s/2000s can’t recognise this and think everyone should have a 6pack…
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the 6 pack abs type guys, but I know we've had a few jiggly ones. Tyson Fury and Corrie Sanders spring to mind in that department.

Heavies have always been "without a weight limit" as you said but up until relatively recent times opted to train hard with the resultant athletic physique rather than be fat.gregregegg wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:18Without a weight limit and without drugs having a bit of jiggle is optimum for many body types. He's just fat. You don't need to knock great fighting men of the past to protect your chubby favourite. He will get upset on the way up because he's not serious.

There aren't many boxers I don't like, but Gomez is one of 'em.

I don’t know the kid at all. Just saying if having Abs was optimum for him my guess is he would have abs. I don’t buy that he is just lazy when there are potentialy millions of dollars on the table.overhand_right wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:28Heavies have always been "without a weight limit" as you said but up until relatively recent times opted to train hard with the resultant athletic physique rather than be fat.gregregegg wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:18Without a weight limit and without drugs having a bit of jiggle is optimum for many body types. Not many top guys have had those Holyfield abs In The last 10 years… I don’t think that’s a laziness thing… I think it’s a PED testing thing…

Note to defenders of Jalolov and Olaniyan:
Gomez jr is what a serious, in-shape prizefighter looks like.

Have you come from outer space or something?

Speaking of which, there was a lot of chat on here last time about Gomez Jr being on the gear.

O’Doherty getting tagged but also in the close clinches Gomez is managing to shove him and work him where he wants in the clinches.

I am always suspicious of heavies that look fatty. Tubbs, Witherspoon, Tate, Douglas, Andy Ruiz would’ve surely been better without that lard. Tyson fury seems to be an exception but he looked better when he was in better shape. Holmes also may be an exception. Bowe also was way better when he was trim.gregregegg wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:37I don’t know the kid at all. Just saying if having Abs was optimum for him my guess is he would have abs. As to what heavyweights have looked in shape - Wlad, Vitali, Lennox, Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Rahman, Maskaev, Wilder, Haye - there are plenty of them

Gomez is leaning his head forward in a clever way as it’s forcing O’Doherty to either go on the back foot, come forward and lean his head into him and get warned for the heads or come forward and lean his head to one side and whenever he’s doing this Gomez is tagging him with uppercuts.

Yep Gomez is very suspicious.

Gatti along with Holyfield are my boxing heroes.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑17 Oct 2026, 16:32What's not to like.
Gatti was like a video game fighter, ridiculous endurance level to go with his skill. Obviously relied on the former way too much, but it served up a career of non stop highlights.

How many low blows is Gomez going to get away with?.
