'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
I wonder if any French kid has thanked god this week for allowing him to break Flannels window and remove thousands of Euros worth of Stone Island gear?
'Je tiens à remercier Dieu et Jésus-Christ, mon sauveur, de m’avoir permis de prendre tous ces articles chez Flannels'
And, is there a crime one can get away with if your excuse was, God told me to do it?

Is that French for Allahu Ahkbar?

He did. In interviews after he retired also.Tony1244 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2026, 16:15 Tyson Fury used to do that, not sure if he still does. To his credit, even though he was a preacher I don't think Foreman did. After he stopped Moorer he dropped to his knees and looked up, but I"m not sure he thanked Jesus or even God for that matter.
How was Holyfield on that? I know he's a religious guy and got psyched up listening to gospel music. Can't remember now if he thanked Hey Zeus after fights.

Christians and Muslims kill because God told them to all the time. They don't frequently get away with it, but every now and again they get a whole Country to go along with it and everybody is like "Yeah...God wants to kill all those people...as a group" and they call it War.

Im glad i am agnostic
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
I would say I believe in God personally. I just don't think any Religion on Earth represents God. They all represent Men and their quest for control and power.
God needs no such thing.
God needs no such thing.

Interesting Gilg. You believe in God. Tell me more of your belief in god, but who in your thoughts is god?
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
I am he as you are he as you are me as we are all together. God doesn't have a name at least not one I've heard. God is a Force that is beyond our full understanding.
But Wars and stuff like that. God's not on anybody's side in those conflicts. That's all us. Fighting amongst ourselves instead of finding a better way forward.
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
Anyone seen the video of the priest that was killed by the cross during the livestream of his mass? Talk about bad luck.

Isn't God's name err 'God' ?gilgamesh wrote: ↑20 Oct 2026, 14:55I am he as you are he as you are me as we are all together. God doesn't have a name at least not one I've heard. God is a Force that is beyond our full understanding.

God is an Idea more than a Name.
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
I can relate to people thanking their parents because they somehow contributed to your creation and upbringing. It's something entirely different.
Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
So you say Gilg, in war god isn't on anyone side. Are you staying, god sits on the fence? You answer is obviously going to create another question.gilgamesh wrote: ↑20 Oct 2026, 14:55I am he as you are he as you are me as we are all together. God gave us life and a World that provides for us. What we do with it is on us. He's left us to our own devices. There is no Death in Service of God. Merely misguided people who believe that to be the case.

If there is a God (which I very much doubt, but who knows), he clearly does not give a solitary toss about this planet or its inhabitants. Can’t blame him either, whole universe to oversee, tough gig.

Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
How crazy would it be if someone were to say "I would like to thank my saviour, Baphomet"?

Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
Obviously sad because it was real but the situation of it happening is so ridiculous that it screams opening or ending scene to a comedy. Obviously I wonder what the priest did to incur gods wrath in such a symbolic way.

Re: 'I would like to thank my saviour, Jesus Christ'
Come on, God has to be a sick bastard or a sadomasochist if he does indeed get involved in human affairs, of which I agree with Gil that he does not.
Have you ever heard of the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake? If God exists and does get involved in human affairs he is indeed like I described him above. The earthquake took place on November 1st, Feast Of All Saints Day, when the majority of people were at church praying to God for people who have passed on. It's estimated somewhere between 30 to 40 thousand people died because the churches and surrounding buildings collapsed on them. Had they not been in church a lot less people would have died. How can anyone think a loving God that would allow that?

On the contrary, the gods back in the day were mostly pretty dangerous fuckers. They loved the ol human sacrifice. Thrived on it indeed. This sounds right up their street.Booster McCrane wrote: ↑24 Oct 2026, 15:11Come on, God has to be a sick bastard or a sadomasochist if he does indeed get involved in human affairs, of which I agree with Gil that he does not.
