I used to enjoy Fight Night Round 4 and Fight Night Champion.

I own the latest boxing title, Steel City's Undisputed, but the spamming in online mode results in the game failing to resemble "real" boxing. It seems more severe than the spamming in the Fight Night games.

That said, and I could be wrong, but didn't the Saudi's (with Turki Alalshikh being involved somehow) acquire EA Sports for $55 billion? If so, the fact the Fight Night franchise has been resurrected won't be a mere coincidence.

I loved the Knockout Kings series (up until the fourth one in 2002, which wasn't great).

Could never get into Fight Night. The control system using the sticks instead of buttons was supposed to be more advanced but it actually made the gameplay feel less realistic and more basic, to me anyway.

I guess I'd also stopped playing computer games in general by then.

nice to hear, but i hope the gameplay is more realistic that a lot of past versions. the worst mechanic was that ridiculous parry in one of the games that would freeze your boxer for like 5 seconds. and of course the button mashathon games.

konami made a k1 game in the early 2000s that is still the most realistic of all fighting games

The bad thing is I think there are like 4 or 5 better versions of that K1 game you speak of in Japan, but they never released them in the West. I know they made a K1 Grand Prix game like 5 years in a row though

Would be smart for them to include kickboxing and amateur boxing modes to cover all fanbases and regions, however, given the way that FIFA went for so many years, they'll instead include characters like Jake Paul and KSI ahead of legit pros. Maybe even bare knuckle mode.

It would take a sh*t load of extra programming and work to add a Kickboxing element to the game.

The closet thing I've seen to covering all Combat sports genres in 1 game is the Video game series Fire Pro Wrestling. While those games are obviously primarily Wrestling games, they also have an option to play MMA matches and Kickboxing matches, and at least on the PS2 version of the game many famous MMA fighters and Kickboxers are built into the game.

To my knowledge that's the only video game that has more than 1 Combat Sport as a playable option. Though I think you can have a Stand up only fight in UFC games as well.
