Leonardo Mosquea-Marko Calic headlines Lyon show on Dec. 5

Leonardo Mosquea will take on Marko Calic at the Fiducial Asteria, Decines on the outskirts of Lyon, France come December 5.

Mosquea, The Ring's No. 9-rated cruiserweight, believes he's steadily inching closer to a world title shot.

"I was determined to become the WBA No. 1 contender, and I achieved it," Mosquea (19-0, 12 KOs) told The Ring. "Now I have that same determination, even stronger, to become world champion in 2027.

"December 5 is another important step on that journey, and I'm fully focused on delivering a great performance and another victory. We're working harder than ever, and I can't wait to step into the ring and show everyone what I'm capable of."

The undercard will feature French lightweight Lilia Cherifi (6-2) who faces Isis Logerie (4-2-1) in a scheduled 10-round contest. Cherifi is trained by her father and former WBC middleweight world champion Hacine.

Elsewhere, Naim Bellahcene (8-6-2, 2 KOs) and Mouhib Alili (7-1-1, 3 KOs) battle over six rounds at welterweight.

Ruben Hovakimyan (4-1, 2 KOs) and Noan Lecureur (3-2) will box at junior welterweight, while Noah Perrin (2-0) meets Bilal Tchangodei (1-1, 1 KO) in another 140-pound bout.

Mosquea was born in the Dominican Republic before basing himself out of France, making his professional debut there in 2019.

The 32-year-old won vacant domestic honors in March 2023 before levelling up, scoring a 12-round split decision win over Cheavon Clarke in December 2024.

Injury prevented him from defending his title, which he later vacated. He has returned with three victories since then, most recently a first-round stoppage of Francisco Rivas in one-round on June 9.

Calic (17-2, 10 KOs) turned professional in 2016. The Croatian-born fighter won his first 11 fights before suffering a seventh-round stoppage defeat when stepping up against Joshua Buatsi in October 2020.

The 39-year-old was stopped in three rounds by Albert Ramirez in February 2025. Since then, he has moved up in weight and won two fights including an impressive 10-round points win over the much bigger Nikodem Jezewski on December 13.
