Imagine the meltdown if he lost though. He was so confident with the showboating in the 12th, he fought a dreadful fight. No pop in his shots and generally outfought quite handily by Puello. Ah well it happens
I think dreadful is a bit OTT. A little bit delusional maybe. He could have legitimately won if he was prepared to go after the guy.
He’s delusional or I’m delusional?
I had Smith losing by 4 or 5. Rounds 2-5 were his best but apart from that I thought he was poor. He didn’t look like the champion in that fight at all.
I do think Smith lost the fight, but I also think he could have done more.
But you’re right it wasn’t a champion’s performance. And pursuing a fight with Stevenson off the back of that display, does not seem like a wise move if you’re going for legacy.
That's because he doesn't win conclusively. He's jerky, an arm puncher and doesn't throw that many shots. He doesn't have a single respectable win by stoppage.

Abdullah Mason is a year younger than Visioli.
With the talent in this division it's not likely Visiloi is going anywhere.
Mason will move up next year.
Even if Visoli doesn't win a belt - and remember some were saying Mason was crap after the war against Vasquez - he can still have a good career. Noakes, Cordina and a whole load of other fighters are out there.
Just because he isn't Abdullah Mason doesn't mean he's shite, mate.

I thought he lost to Sandor Martin & edged past Matias. He's just one of those fighters.

I never wrote he was shite. I wrote I can't see him doing anything in the division. He's a smart boxer, just nowhere near the level that the commentator/manager thinks he is. Not on that performance at least

Azim stops him
I doubt Eddie will match him wiith either
No doubt.
Heck, Shakur might even stop Smith through accumulation of shots.
Eddie will be protecting Smith, he's running low on successful male fighters.
How bad was #SmithPuello? A CompuBox guide: Smith landed measly 66 of 335 punches (20%); Puello was worse: 63 of 518 (12%). In only 1 rd did either land double-digit punches, 10 for Puello in rd 11. Smith never landed more than 8 in a rd. Hardly "enthralling" as described on the broadcast. #boxing
Puello is an awful rangy counter punching southpaw so he's very difficult to look good against. I thought Smith won it narrowly, and he was trying to force it, somewhat cautiously.
The Dazn commentary team are out of control. They are nakedly cheerleaders, some with interest (Sunny Edwards) in certain boxers winning.
They are treating us with contempt as we can all see what is happening.

Very underwhelming performance and the while card in general.
Comparisons by Smith and co to Hatton were absolute fckin cringe. How can those fckers walk down the street..

brought to you by the same people who were championing Connor Benn for so long

When was the last time Matchtoom/Hearn (s) put on a show with a cracking undercard that was not PPV or even when PPV ?
We are getting shafted all sides. Bricktop used to give us some depth on his cards but that Dubois v Wardley card last week was utter shite
I'm not expecting early Saudi madness but we are being fed shit in bread
DAZN are thinned out too.
Yh they have all the promoters under them, but no doubt some promotions have got more dates/money going towards them.

I had it 115-113 Smith but my 7 year old daughter has been running about like a maniac, even before the result in a close fight like that i thought it could've been 116-112 Puello, he took the opener but i thought Smith boxed himself into things but Puello came back, his jab was better id say but both had their best success with the left hand counters, some real quality stuff if not that exciting, there were a lot of close rounds where you can pick what you like, Smith slightly more aggressive, Puello maybe more better looking punches, I'm glad Smith won, I thought he deserved it, another great win
Don’t use your child as an excuse for your shit views.

Like a said previously, Dalton's defence was excellent. He blocked and parried an awful lot of punches.

Don't be a prick, Sean.
I think that’s a fair point and assessment. Apologies.
Dalton Smith vs Puello hard fight to score very close. I don't think Dalton Smith lost the fight but a draw would have been acceptable outcome. Hence Champion would have retained title anyways.
I do believe you have to take a title from a champion and Puello did not do that.
Both very skilled fighters, although Smith dropped slightly in my estimation of him as a fighter. That perception maybe temporary as Puello very talented slick fighter hard to look good against.
