Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
I don’t know shyte about Burnham’s politics or policies, but I read this in the New York Times this week and really wished Spain would adopt his policy on this:
“In recent years, one long-held convention, that riders should keep their electronic devices quiet, has appeared to be crumbling — in many places around the world — as some travelers scroll videos or play music without headphones.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham of Britain this week announced a national campaign against what he described as “one of the most annoying things on public transport.”
The government is urging passengers to use headphones on trains or risk being asked to leave the train or face a fine, and is publicizing existing policies that allow the local authorities to issue fines of up to 100 pounds (about $134) to tackle loud music on buses.”

On my tram line the transit system would make a fortune paying someone to ride and hand out fines all day.evrenb wrote: ↑23 Oct 2026, 13:08giacomino wrote: ↑23 Oct 2026, 11:54 I don’t know shyte about Burnham’s politics or policies, but I read this in the New York Times this week and really wished Spain would adopt his policy on this:

It's been years since I've had to get on the peasant wagon, but it used to drive me mad when idiots had their devices blaring out some shite music or video on full blast.giacomino wrote: ↑23 Oct 2026, 11:54 I don’t know shyte about Burnham’s politics or policies, but I read this in the New York Times this week and really wished Spain would adopt his policy on this:

In Japan, random punters will call you out just for talking normally on a mobile phone, never mind speakers or music blaring, it's considered extremely rude on public transport.

Japan is great like that, if a group of scrotes were attempting to mug someone, the whole carriage will often get together and batter the perpetrators.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
It is great but it would never happen in the west because there's always some do-gooder to make excuses for the perpetrators.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑24 Oct 2026, 04:48Japan is great like that, if a group of scrotes were attempting to mug someone, the whole carriage will often get together and batter the perpetrators.

They also frown upon eating on the train, and there is still a strong etiquette regarding giving your seat up for the elderly, pregnant, ect. Not sure when the standards eroded so far, but i remember as a kid this decorum was as normal as standing to one side on the escalator or thanking the driver while getting off the bus. There is a lot to admire about the Japanese.banjo wrote: ↑24 Oct 2026, 05:08It is great but it would never happen in the west because there's always some do-gooder to make excuses for the perpetrators.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑24 Oct 2026, 04:48Japan is great like that, if a group of scrotes were attempting to mug someone, the whole carriage will often get together and batter the perpetrators.

Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Burnham is a real plonker, talking about freedom of movement of millions upon millions of EU people/illegals will guarantee at least 43 Liebour Red Wall MPs are thrown under one of his buses... They must be dreading every time he opens his mouth

Miles ahead of Farridge in the polls, personally i think he should shut up about Europe.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
The Burnham bounce, remember the Brown bounce, similar leads, higher even and look what happened to him, The Maybot in the 40's and barely scraped in against Comrade Corbyn,...Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑26 Oct 2026, 05:54Miles ahead of Farridge in the polls, personally i think he should shut up about Europe.
It's not only dumb politics to stir it up, there's no way we will rejoin the failing EU, the powerful Financial Services want no return to the EU and their constrictions, you'd have to leave the recently joined CPTPP, rip up the India and Austrailia etc deals hacking off business who have planned for years to trade in the CPTPP, which would also leave us at the mercy of the EU with increased fees and no rebate, and prove to the world the UK is a bad faith actor.
You'd have the SNP demanding a second Indpendence ref, the British people wouldn't want to join the Euro and have 400 million available to come here and sponge off the system. Then you also have the Red Wall Liebour MPs putting pressure on him. He's already hacked off 17.4 million Brexit voters with the Russia smears, even some remoaners are against opening old wounds and causing division again which would be on an even bigger scale, riots.etc etc. I suspect there will be even more Burnham backtracking hacking off those who want to rejoin etc.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Burnham got himself in a right pickle backtracking all over the place as predicted, the "youth mobility scheme" is freedom of movement by the backdoor and the people will see right through it.

You love a bit of youth movement by the back door.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Liebour Budget a damp squib, even Liebour supporting MSM giving it a lukewarm response.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Burnham falls flat on his backside after his pathetic batting, almost as cringeworthy as Starmer's punchbag boxing

Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
Yeah, damn those 'Man of the People' fakes using private flights/jets.
an analysis by campaign and watchdog groups (Our Fair Future and Left Foot Forward) found that Nigel Farage was associated with at least 57 private jet flights across 24 separate days between 30 January and 27 April 2026.
Key details of the flight log include:
• Aircraft and Operators: The flights utilized 11 different private aircraft (including models like the Bombardier Challenger 604, Hawker 850XP, and Cessna Citation XLS+) operated by various charter companies.
• Short-Haul Routes: The logs recorded short-distance domestic trips—such as from Biggin Hill to Farnborough (around 50 miles) or London to Brighton—as well as flights to regional UK cities like Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Aberdeen that are easily reachable by train or car.
• What is Excluded: The count of 57 flights does not include international trips (such as to Davos or Florida) or separate helicopter travel

It's fake news, or doesn't matter when Farage does it, it's what happens when people follow a cult.bmw hector wrote: ↑03 Nov 2026, 11:34 Yeah, damn those 'Man of the People' fakes using private flights/jets.![]()

I don't understand why people get so obsessed with these people. I can't think of a single politician I've ever felt so strongly about that I wasn't able to criticise them.
Re: Burnham has just committed electoral suicide!
They don't call him "Air Miles Andy" for nothing, he's trying to beat Starmer's freebie record.
