Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Just watched the "Chris Byrd-Andrew Golota" bout from April of 2004.
It wound up being ruled a "Draw" which is probably fair enough.
Golota landed the bigger punches, overall, and utilized effective aggression fairly well, but he really could've faired better had he Went to the Body a bit more than he did.
Byrd landed a good amount of quick sharp kinda sorta pot-shots throughout the bout, which was a good strategy for his behalf, but he went into the ropes a bit too much throughout the bout, and that complete "Stretch dipping the hands down to the canvas" manuever thing that he kept on doing during the later rounds was definitely quite bizarre to say the least.
This really was legitimately Golota's final good bout performance though, as he would lose by UD to "John Ruiz" later that same year, and from there onwards Golota basically drifted off into complete obscurity as barely more than a side-show for the bouts he'd win, and just a mere punching bag for the bouts he lost, and most of those losses were quite bad.
