Full fight: Ron Lyle versus Earnie Shavers
Ah, if only they'd known what a historic pairing this was and televised it. Commentary, crowd, multiple angles. Oh well.
Think some people on this forum have said they've only seen the highlights with the Chris Shenkel dub -- so here is full version in great quality.

What a war.
So often commentators will say that “ this one’s not gonna go the distance “.
Then the fight goes the distance.
This one had no chance of making the final bell.

Re: Full fight: Ron Lyle versus Earnie Shavers
Ron Lyle vrs Oscar Bonavena in March 1974.
That had been the biggest fight in Denver.
https://books.google.com/books?id=DtBHA ... &pg=PA8&dq
Is it known if that had been filmed ?
(Bill Daniels had just about all of Ron Lyle's fights in Denver filmed
(although not broadcast on TV other then over the radio)
Most likely one of the local Denver tv stations probably video-taped the fights from ringside
and edited it for highlights to show on on the 10 'o clock news (one would imagine)

It almost had to have been videotaped. However, it could be lost. Unfortunately, that happens.

To think that Caratacus has spammed us endlessly with videos that everyone has seen a thousand times before and he couldn't do something useful like posting those two videos.

Re: Full fight: Ron Lyle versus Earnie Shavers
I'm fairly certain that i did provide a 'link" to it (The Denver history film &TV archival unit).
quite some time ago actually as soon as I had came across it
However I never download any of it for my own future viewing.(only watched it now & then on occasion)
whenever I "felt" like it.
But I've seen it and you haven't, mate, so it's your loss !

No you haven't. You and your alter egos have been asking about whether footage exists for years. Literally years.Caractacus wrote: ↑02 Nov 2026, 15:58 I'm fairly certain that i did provide a 'link" to it (The Denver history film &TV archival unit).

You're as bad at lying as you are at posting.

Re: Full fight: Ron Lyle versus Earnie Shavers
Written 2026. Does this sound like a man who has watched the fight?
Caractacus wrote: ↑09 Jan 2025, 14:27 It is interesting to note, that Lyle vrs Mathis (1972)and Lyle vrs Blin(1973) were both filmed in Denver.
Lyle vrs Oscar Bonavena (1974)was also in Denver (and the biggest fight held there up to that time)
most likely it was filmed too (by Lyl'es promotor Billy Daniels order) wonder if it still exists ?
those fights look to have been filmed with a sixteen millImeter camera (IMOP)

You don't need to call him out. He does it by himself. Either as Caractacus or one of his alter egos.overhand_right wrote: ↑02 Nov 2026, 17:16 Written 2026. Does this sound like a man who has watched the fight?

Some of the weirdest behaviour I have ever encountered.

Re: Full fight: Ron Lyle versus Earnie Shavers
BTW Lyle vrs Shavers in 1975, was the last Lyle fight that had been promoted by Bill Daniels.
(who had used his connections to get Ron Lyle out of prison and also later the Govenor gave Lyle a full pardon)
Lyle broke his contract and sued Daniels.
Also of note, that was the last pro fight that Earnie Shavers had fought with hair on his head.
