Morrison landed 68 punches in a row, with Ruddock only throwing three in return, none of which landed. That's an example of a fight that went on too long because of the standing eight-count. Even with an undeserved rest period, Ruddock was unable to mount any sort of meaningful offense or defense. What do you propose the referee do? Give him an eight-second break 10 times per round?
