Maccarinelli vs Hobson II - post fight discussion.

I have enough respect for Hobson after the war with Maccrinelli this time. But seeing the ring walk I did worry for him. He looked sleepy and no sweat.

Strange shot to score the KO, yes the stoppage was fine - no doubt Hobson was gone.... but it didn't land flush.

Hobson was definitely a bit dry. Reminded me a bit of Wlad vs. Corrie Sanders.

I thought that was very iffy. I thought Hobson looked nervy on the way to the ring, maybe it was guilt.

Well what can you say...big shot landed awkwardly, those pressure points on temple and side of head does more damage. I was expecting Macca to win a hard 12 round fight.

Great result for Enzo, get him in with Haye

True on both accounts, that was similar to the shot the put Leonard down for the first time in the Hearns rematch. Although Hearns had hurt Leonard a little before.

What would have happend had the ref not scored it a KD? It was surely quite possible to say that Hobson slipped as he got out of the way from the Macc shot.

What a terrific division this has developed into.

O'Neil Bell, Enzo, Haye and USS Cunningham.

Haye and USS are scheduled to fight next month, then I think the four guys will pair off in Feb / March.

it was the temple the shot landed on, anywhere else hobson would have been ok.
Haye would beat him still imo. Haye will beat fragmeni then fight bell or mcormick ewho meet again

mmmm..... can see where your coming from, but it wasn't intentional, more Hobson's fault than Macca's as I don't think Enzo aimed for that place.

Still think it was more ear than back of the head anyway. Carbon Copy of Leonard vs Hearns II.

That was weird!

Hobson said his equalibruim was shook but do your eyes move into your head when that happens because Hobbo's didn't?

not quite the temple but mear enough, i know when you get hit there it hard to get yourself back in shape and thats not when your in a boxing fight.

I never faulted Jirov for hitting Mesi behind the head because Mesi was ducking, so the same may apply here. Though it is close.

Wow, I've seen the TKO punch a few times since and I always thought it was a similar to Hearns vs Leonard II or (as you say Jirov vs Mesi) - it didn't seemed aimed, but the picture is quite revealing.

On the picture alone, I would say thats illegal and thrown with intent to land there. Look at Enzo's eyes

Hobson ducked as Enzo was throwing a right hand and it grazed the back of his head and knocked him silly for a bit pure and simple.

Christ, I'd bet my house on even the most accurate puncher not to be able to time a full-blooded right hand right hand to glance off the back of a ducking opponent just a minute into a fight...

Hobson's no quitter and just got caught cold.

Are some people suggesting Hobson took a dive?? Why would he do that? If he gives Enzo another tough fight but losses he is still there as a opponent for a Haye type in the future or could easily be moved into a shot for the vacant European title when Haye moves on. Also wouldn't be too unrealistic to have got a third fight with Enzo. If he wins he can call himself a world champ and let Warren start making him some proper money. As it is it's very hard to see where Hobson can go, i'm sure he doesn't want to go back to British title level and after a 1st round stoppage I can't see him getting another big fight.

Hobson hasn't looked good for a couple of fights now and I think the blow which caught him just behind the ear just took everything from him even though it didn't land flush. Watching it on TV I thought that Hobson had moved his head down and you couldn't really blame Enzo for where the shot landed. I feel he looked gone as he tried to get back up, I don't think there is a standard roll of the eyes when you get hit like that

Hope not, anyone who thinks Hobson took a dive is pure crazy. Weird shot to end it, but no doubt Hobson was dazed & his balance was gone.

Funny thing is, if it was one of those typical Enzo imports who'd gone over from a shot like that in the 1st, everyone who be rolling their eyes and saying the guy was a tomato can.

But because it was Hobson, we all know it must've been a helluva shot.

i think hobbo looked a beaten man when we saw him throwing a few punches in the dressing room. no commitment at all. whilst enzo looked like he was really up for it in the dressing room. ring walk hobbo looked apprehensive and by then i was convinced that he didnt fancy it. for what reason i do not know but when you are in that frame of mind it aint gonna be a long fight. and the punch? no, i'm sorry...

Agree that Hobson looked a bit stiff and nervous beforehand.

I can’t believe he wasn’t trying though & I did feel a bit sorry for him afterwards when he was interviewed. Coming to terms with the fact that you’ve performed so far below your best on the biggest night of your career must be devastating.

Unlike footballers that can have bad games, in Boxing you have to get it right every time.

I think retirement is probably the wise option. He could regroup and go back to domestic level with maybe a crack at the European belt but it sounds like his desire has gone a bit.
