Ho hum, I'd hoped he wouldn't be matched with that bum vanda but I guess his handlers will want to take a breather after the Campas fiasco...

As for Howard creaming him, Eastman hasn't actually won a fight in two years, during which time he has only fought thrice, I fear the worst for him against Williams and I wouldn't place bets on him against any fringe contender at this point in his career...

John Duddy is Irish the simple fact is that boxrec are violateing an international aggrement that was signed in 1998. Northern Ireland is a special case were the beliefs and rights of both communities are signed into the constitutions of both Britian and Ireland.

The fact is if John Duddy was in the work place and his employer insisted on calling him British then his employer would be brought to court for discrimination and sectarianism. Joe Brolly last year brought a case against the legal bar in Britian because as a Barrister he would have been forced to make an oath of allegiance to the Queen( every barrister has to do this in Britian) but as this violated a number of segments of the 1998 aggrement he refused to take any oath. The judge ruled in Brollys favour and as of now no Catholic in Northern Ireland has to take in any oaths to the Queen. This is just a very short example but amongst lots of others.

The fact is in this case is boxrec ARE WRONG they have absolutely no legal basis for their stance of calling Duddy British as anyone who might have taken the time to read article 6 of the good friday aggrement would understand. Even though they are wrong i hold little hope of them taking the plunge and admitting so because they have an all too powerful top editor who simply does not make mistakes :TU:

If according to the GFA people born in Northern Ireland have a right to call themselves Irish, conversely does the British government have the right to revoke the passports of those people?

you are assuming they ever held a British passport - pre GFA those from NI were entitled to an Irish passport under articles two and three of the Irish constituation why claimed it territory as being the whole of the island of Ireland - therefore must nationalist including Duddy had already chossen to hold an Irish passport - what the GFA did was put in place an agreement that all governments recognise the right of those in NI to be recognised as British or Irish

I wasn't assuming anything merely asking the question. So are you saying that there are indecisive people in NI that hold 2 passports, or dual nationality?

Both goverments recognised the right to hold one or the other or both as far as I am aware.

It does seem to have gotten a bit heated lol. I'm just curious to see why someone from one country would be bothered about being another nationality. I mean it doesn't matter how hard i try i couldn't be Mongolian could I?

Nail on the head there mate. It's not rocket science really, he was born on the island of Ireland thereby making him entitled to hold an Irish passport which in turn makes him an Irish citizen. Incidentally, this has always been his right, even pre Good Friday Agreement.
