You think Bika would lose to Soliman now? That was in Bika's 2nd year as a pro & it was a controversy.

Bottom line is, Calzaghe had a very awkward man handcuffed and on the back foot. JC used his leftie stance well - good feints, some nice lateral movement - to keep Bika permanetly off balance. Sure, Calzaghe got dragged into the scuffle, but his class (whe he used it) allowed him to win a near shutout.


I like Kessler. I was raving about him since I first saw him, around mid 2005. In fact, I'm over the moon that he's won a big unification.

But let's look at it this way. Beyer didn't use his southpaw stance to have Bika unable to do anything - last May. Calzaghe did, for long periods last weekend. Kessler dismissed Beyer. But Calzaghe is plainly a level above Beyer. He also has nine years of championship experience, & a unification win. So I don't see how Kessler is the #1 super middle, and I wouldn't give the Dane more than a 50-50 chance.



That said, we all know what's going to happen. They're going to go their seperate ways because of the "American factor" that Calzaghe has obsessed over.

Kessler doesn't show much except for straights, mostly the jab with the odd hook afterwards.

Kessler's opponents are also stuck to Kessler's pace and I wonder how he'll take a faster pace like Calzaghe can do. Kessler seems once paced at the moment.

Kessler is going to do very well over the years. Maybe it's best for him if he fights Andrade & then Mundine again. His reputation is going up all the time & soon he could have a title reign as good as Lorenzo Parra's (the greatest fighter in the world).

And Calzaghe CAN seal his legacy if he beats a Hopkins or Adamek.

It's just a shame that the most natural fight has so many forces getting in the way.

Calzaghe is open to right handers but if Kessler isn't getting past his speed and southpaw jab then he's not getting too many right handers in either.

Bika got right handers in when Joe was in closer to him.

Bit ignorant on the Flyweights so I don't know about this Parra's reign but there doesn't seem to much from him since being beating the French guy.

Just wondering if you saw the Kessler fight....one of the big notes of the fight is how well Mikkel stayed outside Beyer's right foot the entire fight. He didn't use many hooks, basically rifled away with his jab and set up strong strong combos with it. Kessler's jab I thought was on par with Taylor's, but he's much better at timing it to make it work, where Jermain's is almost a damage punch in itself. I would definitely say Mikkel is one of the most technically sound fighters, brings a lot of pop without putting himself infront of the train.
