As for the purse, he offered Lacy the entire thing to fight in Denmark. Purses now don't mean anything to him, when the purses down the road can be huge. He did what he had to to get a a title in the ring.

As for where 250K was stated, please link me. Everything I read, he was extremely quiet about his purse, while Beyer said it was his biggest payday.

Sadly, I don't, but if you could tell me what it states their purses are, that'd be great. Not trying to prove anything, just trying to quell my curiosity.

It just says in the last paragraph that Kessler made 2 million DK - which based on today's exchange rate is 180K sterling.

Not sure if it is true or not, but I know the Danish boxers don't get large purses: Denmark is a small country (my wife is Danish, I go there a lot) and boxing simply isn't a big commercial draw: I have been at the KB Halle when there have been good cards (great night out BTW) and they rarely sell out. Bit surprised Palle thought this one would should be on at the stadium.

Personally, I just think it was to keep the fight out of German judges hands. Securing that can be priceless in the right situation.

As for claiming the fight should occur vs Calzaghe in Denmark, that to me screams marketing ploy. I think he's just using that to get Mikkel some money in the end.

1) Beyer got paid one million Euro (USD 1.25 million). He said himself he went to Denmark for the money.

2) The judges are appointed by the licensing body and rarley come from the country where the fight takes place -- unless it's the US.

The origins of the judges is less important than the fact they are courted and well looked after by the big promoters. I am not saying they are bought and paid for, but that they are subconsciously swayed to lean toward the house fighters.

The appointment of the judges can also be influenced by promoters, who could forget the farcical judging of Roger Tillerman, (for the Ottke v Reid scandal) a man inexplicably appointed by the IBF, at the insistence of Bernadetta Montello an Italian IBF official who had been treated to a stay with the family of Wilfried Sauerland in a lovely big mansion, and who gave him a lovely big watch as a christmas present. Oh yes, believe me, it matters where your fights take place. It was worth every penny they paid to keep the promotion in Denmark where at least Palle could keep an eye on precedings and be in control. Home advantage is of UTMOST importance in a big fight like that.

Beyer was blatantly looking for a nice fat last payday, Kessler knew there would be plenty more if he won.

Warren would pay kessler more to come here than his amatuer promotors who struggle to get shows on Tv.

Kessler would come "here", but Warren would pay him at best a plate of warm soup and the tickets he'd have to pay himself.

Warren would rather pay Hopkins USD 10 million than risk that Kessler would show up.
