You can vote for who Calzaghe fights next on the home page.
No middleweights to choose from. All 168-175.
Please vote on here if you have the time. HBO and a lot of promoters read this site. Not sure if HBO still does links over to them.
Anyhow, let your voices be heard.
Every little bit counts.

The guy is 42 fvcking years old....I don't care what kind of shape he's in.lvlarc_uk wrote:After Kessler it would make sense, the best of 175 & arguably still the best of 160 Vs the best of 168 would be huge.Mattyp151 wrote:Seriously, who would rather see Hopkins over Kessler, that fight just makes no sense....

Sorry but you Calzaghe fans need to get a few things. Hopkins will be 42 at least by the time Calzaghe will take him on. Calzaghe will get little respect for beating up an old man who spent most of his career at 160. Maybe you guys think he should get respect for it, but no he won't.lvlarc_uk wrote:After Kessler it would make sense, the best of 175 & arguably still the best of 160 Vs the best of 168 would be huge.Mattyp151 wrote:Seriously, who would rather see Hopkins over Kessler, that fight just makes no sense....
If Calzaghe is after maximizing fame, in a way that his achievements will be indisputable, he needs to
(i) unify with Kessler first, and then (whether he wins or loses)
(ii) step up to light-heavyweight and challenge the best beltholder he can get.
At present this would be Adamek, Erdei, Woods, probably in this order (even though Woods may be the bigger draw than Erdei).
But NO grandpa Hopkins. NO light-middleweight Wright. NO grandpa Glen Johnson. NO middlweight Taylor (unless Taylopr steps up and does something significant at 168 first). All these matchups can and will be belittled, rightly or wrongly.
However, Calzaghe at end-2007 with his current resumee plus wins over Kessler and Adamek == secured superstar status. Full stop. And even is he loses he will have gained respect, at least he went where it is difficult and will ahve given us two great matchups.
Especially Calzaghe fans should be pushing for these matchups, rather than going with all expected twists and turns by Sports Network.

Honestly Pundit, I don't really pay much attention to your posts anymore.
Way to repetitive and bordering trolling.
So Matty you think Hopkins has all the advantages against Maskaev?
How about if he lands just a few punches clean, Hopkins could be KTFO.

Hopkins has already said he is coming back & if he did he would replacethe rest of the belt holders at 175 as "the man" in an instant"step up to light-heavyweight and challenge the best beltholder he can get
Anyway I don't see why we are arguing, I already said Kessler should be number 1 on the agenda.
Thus the reason I said power and size are the only advantages Oleg has. However, if Bernard rips off a few good combos, it's not out of the question for Oleg to hit the deck. Even at 42, Bernard is still astronomically faster than Oleg and better defensively than Oleg.lvlarc_uk wrote:Honestly Pundit, I don't really pay much attention to your posts anymore.

You said Hopkins would make sense after Kessler. I disagree.lvlarc_uk wrote:Hopkins has already said he is coming back & if he did he would replacethe rest of the belt holders at 175 as "the man" in an instant"step up to light-heavyweight and challenge the best beltholder he can get

Besides, I don't see Hopkins replacing Adamek at the #1 at 175. Tarver was old and slow and cashing in; Adamek is young and hungry. Hopkins can be belittled, Adamek can't.
Besides, has Hopkins indicated an interest in anything but fighting Maskaev?

Hopkins-Maskaev looks like a carefully calculated move for another celebrity fight. Makaev is a relatively small and slow heavyweight, and not exactly a spring chicken either. Good punch yes, but Hopkins may hope that Maskaev can be outmaneuvered. However, Hopkins did not call out Vlad or Lyakovich, and for a good reason. In boxrec's heavyweight poll Maskaev wasn't even top 10 before the Rahman fight, now he is probably still outside the top 5.Mattyp151 wrote:Thus the reason I said power and size are the only advantages Oleg has. Btw, I believe Hopkins' last move was simillary calculated. He took Tarver whose only interest was to cash in at this stage, not hungry young champs like Adamek or Erdei. The fella knows what he's doing.

I see they have Floyd edging the number 1P4P spot after Pac leading for 3 months.. Still Pac here![]()
I vote for Kessler so he can shut up all the critics, at least temporarily. Hopkins 2nd.
Fightnews are running a similar poll. Kessler 57% Hopkins 32%
Every site is calling out for Calzaghe-Kessler
Maybe he will be shamed into taking the fight ala Patterson-Liston
Every poll, every column, it all counts. I see Kessler is favoured by 88%. Nice one.
Anyone who hasn't, take your time & vote. There's one on Fightnews as well.
That p4p stuff is part of a separate site.
I guess there can never be too muchdemand for such a fight, but what I'm saying is...talks between the camps have already begun, as reported by Palle.
Also another thing, I been told that Palle are struggling financially, so not sure if they can afford to host the show overin Copenhagen. So it looks like Millenium stadium it is then, which is just around the corner here... buzzing

Update: Kessler-Andrade purse bids are startinglvlarc_uk wrote:I guess there can never be too muchdemand for such a fight, but what I'm saying is...talks between the camps have already begun, as reported by Palle.
