Billy Graham: I’m quitting
Today’s Manchester Evening News:
Summary
After the Hattons and Macklin finish he will too.
He is annoyed at FW generally, and in particular for suggesting he didn’t look after Macklin in the fight with Moore.
Allegations of drinking benders with his fighters are a load of rubbish. ‘I have not been in a pub in England for years’.
He has bought a house in Georgia, USA to retire too. ‘I’m getting out because I’ve had a bellyful.’

So is only going to help Hatton with Urango then quit!
Whos Hatton going to have to train him after that!
Why is it FW's repsonsibility to look after Macklin? Billy was his trainer after all.

Thats strange since he lives in England. Seems he loves the ale from reading Hatton's book.I have not been in a pub in England for years’.

Why does Graham need a solicitor over words Warren said? There only words!
Think Warren was right saying Graham only came to prominence as Hatton's trainer though.

I should’ve been a tabloid journo Terence. It is a misleading headline, then again "I quit (in 4-5 years)" wouldn't sound the same.
He says in the article that he bought the house with his ‘winnings’ from the Collazo fight. Doesn’t sound right that.
Must have been a bloody big bet, as Hatton was a huge favourite for that bout.

Litigation is a two-way street.
Ok then, let's do a little experiement, why don't you express some personal but unfavourable but 'personal' opinions about Warren's business activities?
I'll get me stopwatch and we'll see how long until the thread gets locked or deleted for fear of litigation.
That's a hypothetical statement by the way...
No offence to Frank, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you are hypersensitive to criticism, then one shouldn't be surprised if your own words bring a lawsuit to your doorstep.
Isn't that a bit strong? The implication there is that Macklin doesn't possess a brain of his own.silkov wrote:Well Macklins probably finished already thanks to the beating Billy let him take against Moore, so that just leaves Hatton who probably only has another 2 or 3 good fights left in him if that...
It shouldnt be down to the boxer to pull himself out of a fight, thats the trainers job... the fact that Warren thinks Macklin should have been pulled out earlier speaks for itself in my opinion... I'm not FW biggest fan but he does seem to genuinely care about his fighters health... he;s seen enough fighters injured in the past to know what he's talking about...Andy Mac wrote:Isn't that a bit strong? I think Graham with hindsight maybe wishes he had stopped it, but it's a difficult decision to make. The fighter wanted to continue, and was still landing some dangerous blows right up until the end. Watching on TV, as an unconnected observer, it seemed clear that he was finished at the end of the 9th, but it's not so easy to see such things clearly when it's your fighter in there and you've trained for weeks for the opportunity and desperately want your guy to win. You hope against hope he's going to turn it around, and probably figure he is ahead in the fight (I certainly had him ahead), and so what do you do.
Personally, I felt I was about to see him get KO'd brutally when I was watching it, which is what happened, but I can understand the decision not to stop it when all is said and done.

I don't think Warren would be stupid enough not to get articles checked through legal advice though before there posted in the media.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Max Molyneux wrote:Of course it is but is it really worth the bother? Thats Warren's opinion not an acussation.Graham has blasted back at accusations from Warren that he should have pulled Macklin out of his recent, epic fight against Moore last month.
Would be hard to make a decision though as a trainer though as the fight was tough fight and close one for both.
Now that one has a more of a case than the other one.Warren has claimed that Graham had "come to prominence" as Hatton's trainer, but Graham hit back at that as well: "I was already one of the best trainers in the country before Ricky came to me," he said.
Now those two have more of a case, especially the last one. If he's laughs at that though I don't see the bother of doing something about it though. There was also an accusation that Graham "has been known to go out on two or three day benders with his fighters," which brought astonished laughter from Graham.
Terence I know, but Warren only said he should of pulled him out, it doesn't sound specific enough to suggest he means what you suggested it might mean.
Anyway it was stopped when rightly so.

Bill worked his nuts off for Phil for little reward and there is no disputing that, Ben.Ben Carey wrote:Graham must get frustrated. Concerning his early career successes that was due "to all Phil Martin's hard work". And, latterly, "anyone could have been successful with Ricky Hatton."
I'm sure Graham enjoyed Michael Gomez's dismantling of Alex Arthur though.
On the whole thought the training methods used in Manchester (bodybag particularly) with the exception of Brian Hughes is Phil's legacy and perhaps Bob Shannon's father before then.
Remember Phil had four British champions with no TV at a time when you had to prove yourself for a domestic title and be more capable than area title level.
The British titles have been undermined since they let a guy with ten fights challenge for it a while back, was the name Allan Foster. I can't recall from the top of my shell.
