Boxing legends on Talksport Radio.

Post by Syntax Error »

Sugar Ray Leonard is on Talksport Radio (1053/1089 MW & DAB radio) on Thursday morning, on The Alan Brazil Breakfast show.

The show is on from 6am - 10am & I think Sugar will be on from 9 - 10. 8)

George Foreman will be on on Friday, but I'm not sure what time yet.

Be warned Talksport is the most dumbed down crap on the airwaves, I seriously doubt it will be the most revealing and insightful interview/series you ever did hear.

Talksport is dire. Football First is their motto. It should be ‘Only Football’ from what I’ve heard – and the station renamed ‘Talkshite’

If they ever do mention boxing their lack of knowledge is pitiful - and this is supposed to be a sports station!!

I kind of agree with you.

It should really be called Talkfootball! :o

Saying that, it's good that they've finally got a legend like SRL on. We don't hear or see much of the sugarman in the UK.

Tommy Boyd was a LEGEND. The 'Human Zoo' was pure class! :TU:

We have Talk on at work and i just heard that SRL and Big George were on but you know it's going to be badly informed dumbed down shite so probably worth giving a miss. Let's see if they can get in a couple of questions before the inevitable advert break and then get back to normality - high pitched loons ringing up about Arsenal!

I too loathe Ian Collins.

However I like Hawksbee and Jacobs, and think Rodney 'That's a great shout' Marsh is superb when he reigns in his lazy misogyny.

That said he's not been on for a while. Has he been sacked? Mickey Quinn is a dreadful replacement.

He's so smug & arrogant!

I don't even know why!

He's been shunted to a graveyard slot & had some woman plonked next to him!!!

He can't of been that great if he lost the prime morning slot!!!! :D

It was good to hear Sugar Ray this morning.

I thought he was going to be live in the studio, fielding questions & on for longer.

Rodney Marsh is a twat. My biggest grumble about Talkshite radio is the mis-information they constantly spout.

I've heard them host entire phone-ins based on incorrect facts.

I remember them hosting one in the not too distant past which was basically lambasting Clive Woodwards involvement with Southampton and saying he got them relegated from the Premiership which:

1 - Wasn't true because he isn't the 1st team coach

2 - Wasn't true because he didn't join Southampton until after they went down!

I actually find them embarrassing to listen to.

James Whale is also a w*nker

Tommy Boyd was the best presenter they ever had (or ever will have for that matter!). The guy actually had some brain cells ............ maybe a bit too much for them to handle! :TU:

i find it far to clicky for whats meant to be a breakfast radio show.
its like being invited out on the ale with a bunch of fella`s you hardly know but they`re all best mates and constantly go on about their experiences together.
between alan brazil, that stockbrocker fella (hank or something), moose, beaky etc, etc alls you get are nudge nudge wink wink references to what happened the last time they went out on the piss or for a meal or to the races or something.

shameful thing about tommy boyd is that he is stuck out on southern counties radio!!!!!!!!!!
not even on a london station - its because he lets his brain out of its cage and great radio is the result - and next thing he is fired because mr and mrs smallmind from horsham or dulwich takes offence. criminal.

SRL said in the interview that Duran hit him the hardest! :o

Ickle Roberto Duran?!?!?!??! :o :-?

Now I can't say, because Duran has never punched me, but I'm damn sure that Hearns hits harder (& he's never punched me too :P ).

Yeah, but fighters often say things like that. Duran was a very sneaky puncher, and Hearns was weight drained for his bout with Leonard, he'd overtrained so maybe he wasn't digging as hard.
