No, I doubt Frank would have shown loyalty, but at that stage Frank would have been paying Ricky and getting no return. You cant do that for long, particularly if the fighter is losing to low level guys.MightyWarrior wrote:Just finished the book and I should add, after my glowing review of chapter one, that it's all DOWN hill from there.
The ghost writer does a crap job, instead of editing what Hatton has to say in a interesting way, he lets him ramble on about how he's a man of the people, likes a drink, doesn't have a big head, likes a drink, isn't greedy, Warren was unfair etc etc.
Tedious stuff. The opening chapter is by far the best, probably because it's about the Tszyu fight, but the rest, like most of Hatton's career so far, is predictable stuff.
He makes a good point though: Warren moans about loyalty - but Ricky left him because he wasn't happy. Now if Hatton had lost 2 or 3 early fights, do we think Frank would have shown much loyalty there?
Ricky was always well paid by Frank. Regardless of the standard of the opponent.
Ricky has tried new management, the team have split, allegedly over arguments that they cannot amke money because they are paying Hatton more than the promotions can afford.
Warren kept Hatton busy, now he is just a chuff, who fights infrequently. He is hardly in the gym.
The clock is ticking on his career. Dont be surprised if Urango beats Hatton. I like Ricky, he seems a gent, down to earth. But there are a lot of things that seem strange.
One of them being that mugging in the mugging capital of the world, china.
1) Ricky was alone. When Ive seen him at shows (when he isnt fighting) he is always with a bunch of mates. Maybe a fancied some sightseeing on his own.
2) How may people get mugged in china in braod daylight?
3) I very much doubt Hatton would simply have handed over the goods, to three little chinese guys. He would have stood his ground. He was probably jet lagged.
Most guys who lose expensive items are usually pissed in a strip club or brothel, like Aaron Pryor used to.
Of course, i'm not in any way suggesting that Hatton was involved in anything like this. Hatton was mugged in broad daylight and his watch was taken from him.
But some guys (not Hatton) do get ripped off in strip joints and brothels.
Ricky is in shocking condition for a man in his 20's. His body will let him down sooner or later
