BOWE & PINKY

Post by overhand_right »

Currently boxrec says Bowe TKO9 Thomas.

By your rules, it should say: Bowe RTD8 Thomas.

Pinky pulled out on his stool after 8 rds...

Any opinions guys?

Because I dont understand how Pinky can quit after 8 rds and its a LTKO9, whereas in his next fight Pinky pulls out after 1 rd v Morrison, yet that is an LTKO1?

In the name of consistency it should be either LTKO8 & LTKO1-

Or LRTD9 & LRTD2!

Well different commissions = different decisions, the RTD is a British decision and was only added recently to the options in an attempt to standardize. It is a subset of TKO just like TKO is a subset of KO.

Ah ha, Mr Shep no less!

Hello matey. I understand regarding different commissions, but in old mags such as The Ring and Boxing Illustrated when re-printing his record around 92/93 list Bowes record always as a TKO8 over Thomas. Plus I have the tape and the decision is announced as such.

So was just confused, as i recall Boxrec also used to list this as TKO8 but someone must have come along and decided to alter it.

Also, on Thomas's record it states he retired after 1 rd v Morrison. Yet it does not state that he retired after 8 rds v Bowe (i dont think it says it in the Holyfield fight either, where he retired after 7).

As I said, RTD is a subset of TKO so just read it as that if you like. The records are in a constant state of flux so I'm sure an American editor will standardizr the record eventually.
