Calzaghe-Taylor Appears to be in the Works

Tarver certainly fits the bill. Ex champ, coming off a loss. But unlike Brewer, Mitchell, Woodhall who had been dethroned in close-ish fights, Tarver is coming off a one sided humiliation loss.

Calzaghe has stated outright that he has no interest in Tarver after the Hopkins loss. Same with Johnson.

He does say that now...

Same way as he will NOW say he's not interested in Hopkins. (since Hopkins made it clear there won't be a fight between him and Joe).

Point is they WERE high on his list - but now they've been replaced by others.

Kessler will most likely remain a steady no 3 choice no matter what replacements are made at the top 2 spots - meaning it'll never happen.

tarver is on record saying that his next fight will be at 185-190 and then he will be back at 175, so i dubt it will be him. Enzo Calzaghe (get that man his own TV show!!) was quite honest in saying that Kessler is the fight that should happen next and seemed very keen on it.

I think Joe has $$ signs in his eyes and isnt bothered so much about fighting kessler. Sad news may be that it is Johnson in the US, or worse still
Allen Green.

But with Taylor being labelled as the "mega fight" you have to worry what the "big" fight may be.

So in essence we are waiting to see if calzaghe will take on:
1. A middleweight
2. A old 42-year-old retired middleweight

or

3. The guy that came second in a reality TV-show?

I reckon it will be Manfredo in February. As much as Tarver and Johnson fights would be mouth watering (

) I reckon they'd have to keep JC at 168 in case a "megafight" with Taylor happens later in the year. If he moves up, he may as well stay up. Plus, he's got the oh-so important titles at sm.

Also, note that not only is the Kessler match-up quiet, but a Woods fight is also keeping a low profile under the carpet right now.

Since the Kessler fight can't be made right now, possibly due to Andrade.

I'm guessing most here though haven't seen Manfredo's last 2 fights at 168, well he's looked a beast, definetly a genuine top 10 SMW and not the same fighter we seen in the contender. I don't think it will be Manfredo though.
