Seen as this thread is about you ... I want to bing you to task about something ... normally I always enjoy your writes ups ... not as good as mine
However ... I think both me and you seriously rate Howard Foster as a Referee ... I like the bloke a lot and indeed have commended his performances as the 3rd man in the ring on numerous occasions ...
But ... do you seriously think that Matthew Hatton deserved to be kicked out of that fight with Bosworth?? ... you yourself have seen on many occasions on how high boxers have their protectors some are nearly touching their chest!!!
So what is the definition of a low blow?? .... yes yes I know the answer but I highlight this point because were Hatton's blows really all that low??
I don't think so ...
Was Bosworth that innocent?? ...
And then there is the Ingles ... brilliant trainers ... in fact nope I will say the very best!!! ... they know the sport inside and out ... but did they keep as quiet as they should have??
All in all Mr McNeilly ... yep a bollocking here and there would have been appropriate for both fighters here and there ... but disqualification???
Can't believe I have to miss this one, Razor. Have to be in London early Saturday morning for a meeting so just can't make it.Razor wrote:Ian you comin to the Michael Hunter title fight in November up here?
BBN's Leeds man Paul Concannon will be travelling to the Headland wilds to cover.
GO ON THE HUNTER!!!
By the way, don't know if the piece is up on Francis Jones' own website but he's just done a bit about training with his stablemate Hunter which is quite funny.
(Oh, I've just been told Francis has taken it down from the site...I'll let you read between the lines!)

I genuinely do think he deserved to be thrown out, Spud. The third low blow (that I counted anyway!) was indeed borderline and I think Bosworth made a bit more of that than he perhaps should have done. But he could have made a much bigger deal about either of the genuinely low blows!Spud wrote:Hey McNeilly!!!Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I'm back. You can stop your filthy thoughts now. The Ingles (especially Dom) never keep quiet!
I just think - and it applies to football especially - that we are so used to seeing weak referees we are shocked when one applies the rules. Matt had been warned for a variety of things and the hit on the break was the last straw.
Don't worry Spud - he'll be back!

Thanks for the reply Ian ...
I really believe Howard was a tadge harsh on Matthew ... in addition if he wanted to follow the rules as closely as he did and I applaud him for doing what he thought was right although I disagree, but, in addition if he wanted to disqualify Matthew why weren't some of the corners warned for being a tadge over zealous in their advice??
Ian what I am getting at is where do you draw the line?? ...
And I firmly believe my point about the protectors is a valid one ...
In addition Bozzo is cracking bloke like him a lot spent a good 30 minutes chatting in the hotel prior to the fight and even then he mentioned the body punching of Hatton ... so perhaps they came a bit prepared for the nights proceedings.
As good as professionals that The Ingles, Bozzo and Howard Foster are ... I honestly believe Matthew was hard done by but there you go.
I hope the rematch is ordered because lets face it ... Hatton was winning the fight ... and we were half way through the final round!!!
