I'm getting sick of Calzaghe & Warren.

I gave them a pass for the Lacy win, but they've reverted back to form.

Personally, I was excited about Kessler when I heard about him in early 2005. he's come along even better than I wanted him to. & I can't wait to see him carry on defending his titles.

What he's done - unifying 2 belts & beating 6 titlists - has taken Joey boy NINE FVCKING YEARS.

I'll be happy just to watch this excellent boxer defend his belts. vs dangerous mandatories like Andrade & Mundine.

Andrade, for everyone's information, was ruled out by Calzaghe Sr a few months ago.

I'm getting pissed with this Calzaghe documentary. Is it on every day? I find myself ever more in agreement with the Yank sceptics on there. He's not had the great wins that Eubank & Benn did. He's not gone after everyone like Lewis did. & Roy Jones didn't duck him.

The only problem i can see with the division is Calzaghe. I'm sure Kessler wants the fight!

I'm not sure there is a muddle. Not too much, anyhow.

Let's say Calzaghe gives the belts up. IBF will be scrabbled over by Stieglitz, Lacy, Tsypko etc. WBO will be scrabbled over by either Tatvosyan, Markussen, Bute.

Kessler will be the real champ, and he has strong challengers. Whereas the WBO & IBF titles will change hands as regularly as the WBC did in the late 90s/early 00s. Then of course the WBA 'regular', which will make everything a little bit thinner all round.

Kessler should go after the regular champ and humiliate him (whoever it turns out to be), like Hopkins did with Joppy.

Let Calzaghe have the WBA regular & hide it on these shores, where no one will notice!

Calzaghe-Kessler is one of the biggest fights in boxing at the moment IMO, plus Joe has been calling for a BIG fight for years, Kessler is banging the door down for a fight with Joe and the PRICK comes out with "I'm not interested in him - he doesn't mean anything to America. ".

Calzaghe (and FW) really piss me off......pair of CNUTS

FW is supposed to be lining up a US opponent for Joe in Feb, which is going to be another gimme for Joe. I can't see how an easy win over a US opponent enhances Joes status in the US more so than a win over Kessler. IMO Joe sees it as too much of a dangerous fight

The WBA regular title cant be 'unified' with another. Should the holder of that title fight another champion the regular belt is forfeited.

Steve Bunce has done an interview with Calzaghe in todays Independent, and he asks him what his current dream fight would be. The three names Joe mentions are Kessler, Taylor and Hopkins.

Still wouldn't put money on Calzaghe-Kessler ever happening, but at least Joe is actually mentioning his name now.

Surely any American can see that Kessler is sheer class and a danger to anyone in the division.

You have to be blind not to be able to see that kessler-Calzaghe is the obvious match out there at 12st.

For the benefit of those who can't read:

Terence's comment about fighting Lacy again was HUMOUR; he inferred that the "defining fight" of Calzaghe's career would be more likely to be a Lacy rematch than a Kessler one.

The bit that he quoted Calzaghe as saying (and before you start I'm not saying it's from the horse's mouth, Terence did) is:

Where does the original Calzaghe quote in this thread actually come from? Because I've seen two verifiable Calzaghe quotes about Kessler (from Boxing Monthly and The Independent) and both times he says it's a fight that he would be interested in. I've seen the other quote a couple of times now, but I haven't seen any source for it.

Kessler to win for me if they ever meet...which they won't! A changing of the guard is due, like Calzaghe did to Eubank, Kessler will do in turn to him. Out with the old in with the new.

So many Englishmen here want Kessler to give Joe a beating. You guys apparently would rahter have an English champ than a Welsh Champ - or is it just because Joe is behaving like a coward?

Kessler is new generation of fighter, who wants the big fights. Calzaghe belongs to the '90s, when world title holders could go half a dozen fights without fighting anyone. Kessler has only been champ 2 years, yet he has already unified. So he is far more serious about his title reign than Calzaghe.

Calzaghe has Italian blood in him, was born in London, and brought up in Wales. Years ago he offended a lot of ppl by saying that he wanted England to lose a football match. I didn't care, because I don't like football.

With Kessler, there is never the big fuss over who he's fighting. You can believe that he will turn up for Andrade and Mundine. Everything is a farce with Warren, i.e. Antwun Echols pulls out, so bring in Will McIntyre/Miguel Jiminez etc etc. Mess Beyer around, fight Bika. Make Mundine an offer he CAN refuse, fight Salem. Kessler is waiting, so call out Hopkins/Taylor/Wright/Tarver/Johnson/Woods - everyone apart from Kessler.

I hope Kessler gives him a hiding.

Calzaghe doesn't conduct himself like a champion.

If Calzaghe and Kessler fight I will without a doubt be cheering Calzaghe on, its just Calzaghes attitude that annoys me, I don't like the way he picks and chooses his fights or the way he claims that "I'm not fighting him, he's not on my level", then he fights Bika, Pudwill, Salem...... Kessler is the obvious fight for Joe to take to unify the division, but he calls out a retired 40 y/o instead. As if Nard is going to come out of retirement to fight to Joe
