OT: Crispy bacon?

Post by jomothepure »

Sorry to wade in with a highbrow thread so early in the morning, but...is this guy for real?

Chris P Bacon
http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=009189

Obviously he is real, but Is the middle initial his too, or has it been thrown in in order to make such a witty name? In short, did the P come with the bacon, or do Ps cost extra?

He was featured this week on 'Secondsouts', a new boxing programme on Channel M (sky channel 203) - which mainly follows Manchester fighters. They mentioned that next week, theyre gonna feature Matthew Hatton's controversial DQ.

Chris Bacon said the 'P' came from when he had a fight, and a subsequent newspaper report incorrectly published the 'P' in the middle of his name.

He said he had been toiling with the nickname 'Smokin' prior to this, and so following the publication he decided to keep the 'P'.

I hear he is one hard bastard away from the ring and not to be messed with but all the same a very likeable bloke.

He was the promoter of the MMA show at the MEN Arena and was responsible for bringing Tyson over for the event.

Bacon has been a cage fighter and wrestler in Japan and represented Australia as a judo player at the Olympics although he now lives in Manchester.

I don't think he needs the wonga but is making a boxing comeback for a bit of fun next month.

A mate of mine told me about his mate Roger Bacon, he had a kid a few years back, and decided to name the poor little bastard Egan!

And no, it's not a joke, oh how those registration roll calls must fly by for poor little master Bacon.

I was at the Liverpool Olympia for his fight with Gary Dellaney, good fight which was stopped with hardly any time left of the fight. Was in stitches when his name was announced.

I knew one of his brothers owns 'The Living Room' chain of bars and restaurants that have popped up around the country.
