Bit of a bumper day of boxing action today.
Over in Germany we have 3 intriguing Heavyweight contests.
Akinwande vs Platov (IBF I/C Title)
Sprott vs Detweiller (EU Title)
Koc vs Hoffman
All 3 are interesting and quite tough to pick.
Over here - allegedly has put together a decent card up in Scotland.
Nice to see Willie Limond return to action and has a chance at picking up a meaningful belt vs Kapkto Allotey. Indeed, Limond will probably start a bigish favourite. Alex Arthur defends his EBU title vs the undefeated but untested Sergio Palermo. Fight of the night looks to be the English title fight between Nigel Wright and Gary Reid. Ricky Burns, Colin McNeil and Gary Young also scheduled.
Over in Monte Carlo (live on Eurosport) - Roman Greenberg tops the bill retaining (or sorry I mean defending) his IBO I/C title. It will be nice to see Christophe Canclaux back in action.
The states has two big bills. Headlining one of them is Mayweather vs Baldomir for the World Welterweight title. With a decent undercard, Guerrero vs Salido for the IBF Feather title and appearances by Robbie Peden and Paul Williams.
The second big US card is a match no recieving that much attention.... but Shannon Briggs fights Sergei Lyakovich for the WBO Heavy Title.... could be a good one this, Briggs has some tools but Lyakovich looked excellent beating Brewster. Juan Diaz defends his Lightweight title on the undercard - with appearances also be Luis Collazo and a decent looking fight between Elio Rojas and Luis Bolano.
Over in South Africa, Gary St Clair makes the first defence of his IBF Super Featherweight title vs Malcom Klassen (looks fairly routine). One time British based Heavy Albert Snowoski is also on the bill.
There is also the rematch between Jaffa Ballagou and Lawrence Chapman, their first meeting had one of the strangest endings to a contest I have seen.

Speaking of the Briggs vs Sergei fight... Has anyone seen the pics of the two in the thread on the Current scene called "Briggs vs Lyakovich turns racist".
There are two pics there, Lyakovich looks COMPLETELY different in the two pics. If it is known that the pic with the baseball bats is taken say a month/6 weeks BEFORE the one of them going at it - then I think there will be some questions about Lyakovich's training methods.

IBF Super Feather title is getting like the EBU Heavyweight title, you cannot make a successful title defence.

Barry McGuigan was just going on about how great the 130lb champs are too. He said StClair is Alex Arthur's best chance of winning a title.
