Wasn't sure if there was a topic covering this but Alex Arthur's win was tucked away amongst a ruck of Boxing bills last night around the globe. I was only glancing back and forth but as expected his challenger was pretty basic and generally poor. Just before he exploded with that big left hook he missed with a similar attempt and you got the feeling it was only a matter of time before a big shot landed on his limited foe.

Willie Limond did ok against a tough African but i think we all know Willie's levels by now and Nigel Wright tamed body puncher Gary Reid for the English strap, any thoughts?

Resonable performance that, he has good fundimentals Arther although is unlikely to set the world on fire any time soon. The opponent looked much smaller than him though.

In terms of the other match I fell asleep and woke up in ITV quiz or what ever its called.

i was praying for one of polomo's telegraphed hooks to knock Arthur into next week.

Did you buy that press shit about warren telling him how to win the fight, I couldn't stand the macho shit about him talking to his family in the fight, that kind of playing with a camra got him in trouble against gomez.

Willie Limond always has that effect on me. I make a point of avoiding his fights.

He probably goes through Boxrec and finds the lowest ranked undefeated fighters with 15+ bouts.

The opponent wasn't great. But I like how Arthur's style has rounded out. He did look a bit hittable. But he looked big, strong, and showed a nice, sharp repertoire. To me, he certainly looks world class.

Maybe a fight with Klassen could be made.

I don't know if the SA was a deserved winner vs St Clair. Fightnews had a very excitable, home proud report how Klassen dominated with "the best jab in SA boxing." But there are flickers of rumour that Gairy just about edged it.

Maybe they should bring Gairy over for a fight anyways. Would show us just how much he's improved - or not - from the Gomez fight.

Ok, Palomo wasn't top notch EBU standard but Arthur looked in great form to me. That left hook he picked out to have the Spaniard over the first time was sheer perfection.

I don't think Warren should get slammed over this match because Palomo was EBU rated. Perhaps the EBU should stop doing Spaniards and Italians favours in their rankings. At least thats how it seems to me.

I felt he looked a lot better offensively than defensively.

I really like watching Arthur and if what he said in the interviews is genuine he seems like he's not afraid of losing he just wants to get in there with the best in his division, if so I have a lot of respect for him.

Be nice to see him go and fight in the states, they could use the whole kilts and bagpipes angle which would probably go down well over there.

I don't know what the hell you guys were watching, but Arthur does not look close to being a future world champ, IMO. We've probably already seen his level getting outmauled by far from world class Gomez.

And I see this 'he looks so big and strong in there' nonsense has resurfaced again...

I hope he does actually have aspirations to fight the best, as we know he'll have to break away from Warren for that plan to go ahead. Let's see how willing he is to do that...

He looks like he's matured physically and tactically.

Nice repertoire of shots. Well rounded. Let's not forget he has a cracking win over Sinitsin. He's dominating Euro guys so there's nothing else to do but beat a top ten fighter & get a mandatory ranking.

He should go for St Clair. St Clair doesn't have many options now that he was dethroned by Klassen. They should grab Gairy before he goes to SA for a fringe title fight with Baloyi.

Gairy brings pressure, and we dunnae know if Arthur caenn take pressure.

Big question mark: when he punches down to all these short guys, he is open. Even though he has improved a great deal, would he be as hittable vs Barrera/Guzman/Klassen as he was against Gomez?

Despite the improvement, they will sense openings quicker and would Arthur look the same as he did when hammered by that Mank?
