Matthews in for Harrison?
It's been reported north of the border that WBU champ (I hate that belt) Derry Matthews has been lined up to step in for Scott Harrison against Nicky Cook on December 9th if he doesn't get out of jail pronto.
No idea what status the fight would have. If so, would have thought it would be a final eliminator for the WBO title which would go to Marquez if Harrison was stripped (as he will be if he can't defend in December).

Don't do it Cookie, Don't do it Cookie.
Get back to the WBC route.... you'll lose your WBC ranking if you go the WBU route.
I take it Cook has joined Sports Network then? Cause I don't think Warren would be putting in one of his prospects into world class this early if he didn't have any involvement with the opponent.

I do wonder about this -- even if the young Mexican kiddie (it still is a young Mexican kiddie isn't it, who's WBC champ? The 126 lb belts are swapping so fast lately I can hardly keep up) is really difficult to make a fight with, he doesn't look like a bloody world-killer, does he?
As people have said, I hope Cookie holds out and gets a shot at the WBCrackwhores belt, if only 'cos the payday's are likely to be bigger should Vazquez or someone move up from 122 lbs...

I think most of the problem has been due to Cook's injuries anyway. There are/were some issues regarding Inchin Chi's claim as the #1 contender, but that fight is off now - think Chi is injured, so cannot see why Cook cannot get involved. His WBC final eliminator was signed and dated at one stage.Nels wrote:I do wonder about this -- even if the young Mexican kiddie (it still is a young Mexican kiddie isn't it, who's WBC champ?
