A prime Tyson would be a little more patient, but ONE flush shot from either hand of Tyson could KTFO Jones.
I think a prime Jones would run circles over the older Tyson. Tyson still has a good chance of winning.
As for his chin, he was getting his clocked cleaned by Douglas before getting KO'd. No way in a billion years is Tyson getting knocked out by Jones. 0% chance. The only way he can win by TKO if Tyson quits.

Ruiz was a very hard puncher (just look at his stoppage of Oquendo) and he hit Jones with several flush right hands and Jones wouldn't budge. If he can take Ruiz' shots, he can take Tyson's, whose punching power is very overrated.Heartbreak_Kid79 wrote:Jones wasn't taking punches from 240 lb heavyweights though was he (Forget the handslapper Ruiz in his only HW bout)DoubleM wrote:Statistics don't lie. Even then Tyson took some brutal shots from Lewis before eventually going down

Tyson had a stunning chin.DoubleM wrote:You're all underrating Roy Jones. I think he could pull off an upset here and stop Tyson late. Jones' chin was pretty solid and he was much faster than Tyson, able to keep away from his wild attacks. Tyson's chin was below average... He was knocked out in five of his six losses. Jones' power would get to him.
All his defeats are as a result of below average stamina & lack of heart, not down to being chinny.
I think you'll find they were.Syntax Error wrote:Tyson had a stunning chin.DoubleM wrote:You're all underrating Roy Jones. I think he could pull off an upset here and stop Tyson late. Michael Grant, Herbie Hide, Clifford Etienne & Michael Moorer are chinny.DoubleM wrote:I think you'll find they were.Syntax Error wrote:Tyson had a stunning chin.DoubleM wrote:You're all underrating Roy Jones. One decent whack on the chin against those guys & they'd collapse in heaps.
You never saw Tyson collapse from one decent crack on the chin.
You had to beat the fight out of Tyson & that suggests to me that his stamina was poor & his fighting heart was lacking.

Let's bronze this statement for the all time funniest quote on boxrec.
Ali and Louis would outpoint Valuev with ease. Maybe no KO But Valuev would miss the target with Ali all night long. Ali would score over and over and over and over......

I wouldn't go that far. I think Bob Foster takes that title... But Ruiz definitely hit harder than Tyson, whose opponents all had china chins. Tyson didn't even hit that hard, although he did hit quite hard.Syntax Error wrote:No, Ruiz is the hardest hitter, p4p in history.DoubleM wrote:Right, and I suppose you'll be saying Tyson hit harder than Ruiz next
You cant be serious (Unless your joking), but following your logic Ali must of had a bad chin from getting knocked down by crusierweight Cooper, journeyman Sonny Banks and slow as molasis Wepner!DoubleM wrote:Statistics don't lie. Jones had a better chin than Tyson.
Tyson took everything Ruddock had to offer in both fights, that shows an ATG chin right there.
this thread was moved from current scene to past... i never really come in here, just curious on where this thread was at.. and all i got to say is
ruiz hits harder then tyson?... HAHAHAHHA....
jones has a better chin then tyson?... HAHAHHAHHAA....
valuev beating ALI?.. HAHAHHAHHAHA....
man, those are some funny statements...
im a jones fan, and lets be real here, jones had a decent chin till he went up and down in weight. not that it changed his chin, or ability to take a punch, it infact aged him dramaticly. that cause him to lose timing and cat like reflexes. he got hit flush by tarver, no shame in that. and vs glen, he was beat up alot in that fight, more then he ever was in a fight, and got hit not on his chin, but on the side or the head (temple) and fell and banged it on the apporon. tyson on the other hand, took shot after shot after shot, he was beat up when he lost. buster douglas beat him bad, theres no weak chin in that fight, cause if there was, it would ahve ended sooner. ever vs lewis, tyson took shot after shot, till he finally was beat.
ali would school valuev, i cant believe that was even a post..
anyways, a prime tyson would hunt jones down, and jones would always be moving, but tyson aint like any fighter jones faught in his prime, tyson would win by KO from rounds 1 to 4.

Have you seen how big Valuev is? He is probably the hardest puncher in heavyweight history, and Louis had a glass chin. I'm changing my prediction to Valuev KO11 Louis, and I'm being as generous as possible to the older fighter.Collins2000 wrote:Louis vs Valuev has Dempsey vs Willard written all over it, except this time the fight would correctly be stopped in round 1.

Yes, your logic has convinced me of the error in my analysis. Valuev, unlike the other giants of the past who were basically shit when they met top fighters, has it all and would lay a severe beating on any past champ. We need to thank the boxing gods that we are living in the Valuev age!DoubleM wrote:Have you seen how big Valuev is?
