He does move in and out of range like with Lucas. Calzaghe's footwork is good too though so moving in and out of range is one thing, but Joe's more known to move quicker on his feet.
Be interesting to see him handle Calzaghe's southpaw jab though as most people are mentioning Kessler's jab and Freiheit says Kessler is troubled by southpaws and Joe's a quick one at that.
Ain't seen Mundine but hearing Mundine's hand speed gave Kessler trouble and Joe's known for hand speed too.
Kessler's guard is just too typical European, which makes it harder for him against quick fighters.
I don't see how the jab will be the key to winning the fight though, the Southpaw jab would give his orthodox jab real problems.
As you said Calzaghe peaked too, what do you reckon about before that?
I disagree... I think Calzaghe has good handspeed but he does not move quick on his feet.
Yeah Mundines fast hands (faster than Calzaghes IMO) gave him so much trouble that he lost maybe 3 rounds
It's a hard to predict fight. Very different styles, and they are not pleasant for one another. Kessler moves well, is stronger than Calzaghe, punches harder, and has the reach advantage with an outstanding jab. So Calzaghe will need to work very hard to get into his preferred half-distance position, where he can maximize the impact of his blistering handspeed. At the same time, who knows how Kessler handles Calzaghe's pressure and how he reacts if Calzaghe manages to get past and pounds him from the inside.
So I can see a points decision or TKO for Kessler, but also a TKO for Calzaghe. My gutfeeling is Kessler on points though. He's too good to be overwhelmed a la Mario Veit (who fights a similar style), but other than that I don't see exactly how Calzaghe would beat him.

those guys aren't a million miles away from what kessler is.

Calzaghe has never fought anyone as technically skilled as Kessler. Reid is the closest you get - and Kessler is still a couple of levels up.
Calzaghe has speed and Kessler has fought Mundine who is the fastest SMW out there and a top 5 fighter. I dare say Kessler has fought someone closer to Calzaghe than Calzaghe fighting someone that is like Kessler.
Anyway - we are only even having these discussions because Joe lacks the balls to make the fight happen. We should be disgusing this because they are scheduled to fight.
