I've been looking through the record of former heavyweight Dee Collier who finished with a pretty average 12 wins(8kos) and 9 loss record.
What I find interesting is he had some good results which make his 'average' record look better than it actually was. He had points losses to Orlin Norris and Buster Douglas but stopped the iron chinned Randell 'Tex' Cobb in the 1st round. He also stopped a then up and coming fighter called Alex Garcia.
Anyone have any info on Dee Collier. I've heard there were rumours about the Cobb win (fight fixing). After losing his NABF title fight with Orlin Norris on points he never fought again, any ideas why??

Collier was a terrifying looking giant-sized heavyweight. He was slow & cumbersome but if you got in the way of one of his looping overhand rights you would likely be going down or out.
He was a big powerful fella but i would say limited skill. His best qualities were size & power and obviously durability since he seemed to mix in with world class heavies. He was, maybe still is, a corrections officer at some prison whose name i forget.
His win over Cobb never heard anything about a fix, that was Cobb/Barch. Cobb had been down against the average Eddie Gregg in his previous fight and his durability was definitely waning. And as i say Collier could cause serious damage with his blows and Cobb tended to block punches with his face, so it adds up to me.
I believe the Garcia win was on a cut.
Hope some of that is interesting to ya buddy.
His performance against Norris was so dismal that he probably decided to hang em up.
