Gotta say if this fight goes ahead it will be because money talks. How can Harrison prepare for a world title fight with a few weeks training after having been in a jail cell for over a month? Its unbelievable.
I know Harrison is probably better off in the ring than away from the gym but there have to be limits. Good news for Nicky Cook though.

I agree Don't Call it a Comeback.
Its all very well saying Scott has trained in Jail, but what about diet and other important factors that need to be considered weeks in advance.
Also, he has only been bailed. Surely he's got the trial and all and with a Marquez fight going to be forced.... I cannot see Scott being able to fight that, even if the Cook fight goes ahead.... which I still doubt.

Yes, money talks indeed. I think it'll go ahead, and he'll still beat Cook.
Think his "manager" should hire a teetotal minder/bodyguard to look after Scott when he hits the town. Keep him out of trouble if possible - bundle him in a car and take him home when he starts to get a weird look in his eye. John Belushi used to have a minder for similar reasons, though he fired him in the end. Because this type of stuff will keep happening.
He's obviously a binge drinker, and can't handle the drink either. Months of being sober leave him with the impression drink isn't a problem. And obviously it is.

I still don't think this fight goes ahead. Scott will be in absolutely no mental state to fight or train. He will be hounded by the press and jeered everywhere he goes. I don't think a guy can go from sitting in a jail cell in a foreign country not knowing when he's getting out, to defending a world title only a few weeks later.

Just going on my mates experience. He commited a small crime out in Magaluf (Rugby tackled a bin!). He got caught, his mate got a bit lippy to the cops (no violence).
Anyway, they were fined and cautioned.... but everything was paid. Thought everything was sorted untill they were about to leave to go home.
3 weeks later he arrives back in the UK. I've asked why, but he didn't know.... Not even his club rep could give a straight answer - just kept saying "paperwork".

This puts the BBBoC in a difficult position also. They already stated that they will have to determine whether Harrison is in a fit state to box for one and whether he has infringed their rules of taking the sport into disrepute.
Also Warren has stated that the fight is off. So there will have to be a bit of backtracking for a number of interested parties.
I too think it will not go ahead.

I am really in two minds about this situation. My initial reaction when hearing the fight was back on was "great!" as I think it has the potential to be an meaningfull, entertaing fight.
But is Harrison in any fit mental state to be in a Boxing ring at the moment? The last thing he needs or Boxing is another Oliver Mccall breakdown incident.
Also another thought that I had recently about Scott Harrison was thinking back to his lackluster lose to Medina, after the fight it came to light that Scott had vomited in his dressingroom just before the fighr.
Now if this was indeed the case was Harrison 'hung over' that night? It may sound a bit far fetched but with the benefit of hindsight........ who knows.

Harrison is released from prison
Harrison hopes to defend his belt against Nicky Cook
Scott Harrison has been released from prison in Spain and will return to Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon.
And Harrison's manager Barry Hughes insisted his charge would defend his WBO featherweight crown against Nicky Cook in London on 9 December.
The British Boxing Board of Control says no decision will be made until Harrison has undergone a medical.
"I've no worries about the actual fight itself. My only concern is getting Scott to the fight," said Hughes.
606 DEBATE: Can Harrison get his career going again?
"On 9 December, after three or four rounds, Nicky Cook is going to find himself in a place he does not want to be.
"Scott is below the weight he would normally be at this time before a fight because obviously he hasn't been able to over-indulge.
If Scott is fit, then the fight will go ahead
Promoter allegedly
"I'm not sure exactly what his diet is but he told me it wasn't the worst food they were giving him. But I am confident he will retain his belt."
Promoter allegedly is hoping to get the medical out of the way as soon as possible so he can finally confirm the bill.
"It has been an unsatisfactory situation and has not been good for Scott or for the sport," said Warren.
"Legally, I am obliged to honour the contract and, providing he is passed fit to fight, then I have to honour that.
"We have the right to have him take a medical and he will undertake one with a doctor registered with the BBBC.
"It is a sorry state of affairs all round but the prime consideration has to be to Scott's health first and foremost. But, if he is fit, then the fight will go ahead."
Hughes added that Harrison, 29, declared his gratitude to manager seconds after being released from the Malaga jail.
The Cambuslang fighter had been behind bars since 6 October on an alleged assault charge.
Hughes said: "The first thing that Scott did when the doors opened was come over and give me a cuddle.
"Then he said, 'thanks for standing by me. You always remember the guys that stand by you in the bad times more than the guys who stand by you in the good times'.
"That made all the hard work and hassle worth while."

Its obvious he struggles with the weight normally and he has looked very gaunt at weigh ins, you'd think his weight would be pretty hight right now and not on his usual schedule which sees him tight on the scales.dookus wrote:Yeah, but he's still the largest "Featherweight" evernickd wrote:There is no way he'll be anything like 100% in four weeks after spending a month inside.
I think the BBBoC might step in here.
Fvck me. Note to Jose Luis Castillo: next time you want to drop some weight for a fight, spanner a Spanish cop & spend a month inside."Scott is below the weight he would normally be at this time before a fight because obviously he hasn't been able to over-indulge.
I can see it now: The patented Scott Harrison slimming technique: Ten pints of lager and a left hook to a copper.
Seriously though, is anyone else finding this "Oh, he's just a confirmed alkie who's spent a month in the nick. Of course he'll be fine for a world title fight" drivel coming out of the man's camp a little distasteful?
I know it's just the party line and all, but if I was the bloke's father I like to think I'd have the nuts to say "Sorry mate, you need help, and not with your lateral movement..."

It seems that allegedly is hoping this fight falls through, he's hoping I think that Harrison fails his bbbofc medical, and you cannot blame him really. This is all a bit of a disgrace really.
If the WBO have any principals at all, they would strip him, seeing as he's gone on a bender and twatted a copper.
I've nothing against Harrison, but for god's sake this isn't conduct becoming a champion, and it's not the first time, what does it say about the sport that fighters can go around twatting people and just carry on regardless.
I also don't think it's good for Scott to be going into a fight with such poor preparation.

Scott Harrison's manager insists he is in the 'best shape of his life'Scott Harrison's manager insists he is in the 'best shape of his life' - despite spending five weeks in a Spanish jail.
The WBO featherweight world champion arrived back in Glasgow on Tuesday, after being released on bail from prison in Malaga.
It leaves him with less than a month to prepare for his title defence against Nicky Cook, but Barry Hughes reckons his man will be in perfect condition come their ExCel Arena showdown on December 9.
"Scott is in the best physical and mental shape of his life just now," he told Sky Sports News.
"I would have to question myself if I didn't think Scott was mentally or physically right - but I wouldn't let Scott fight.
"I don't think, I know Scott is prepared physically and mentally for the fight in November."
Harrison himself said he would have "no problems" getting in shape for the Cook fight and his lawyer Massimo Franchi says he has "no doubts" that it will go ahead - even though he faces a BBBof C medical first.
The Scot was arrested in southern Spain for alleged theft of a car and assault - the latest in a series of controversies to dog the man from Cambuslang, who was charged with six offences, including three of assault and one of fraud, in September.
He also pulled out of his May defence against Gairy St Claire, but Hughes believes the Spanish problems are all he needs to draw a line under a difficult year.
"We're going to train for this fight and win it," he said. "I don't want him thinking about court cases, I don't want him thinking about prison.
"I don't want him thinking about any negative things in his life, I only want Scott to think about a positive mental attitude.
"I want to wipe all that other stuff out and let Scott concentrate on the timescale he's got left to prepare for this fight."

Some people are considered idiots, in which case they shouldn't open their mouths and confirm it.
