Yeah man dave is a nice guy all his shows are top imo just they lacked the sky backing but hopefully after this it'll be onwards and upwardsTHEBUTCH wrote:Nah razor, it's on tv and a hell of long way. I was tempted to go to some of Dave Garside's off-tv shows a while back though. They sounded like excellent small hall shows. I don't tend to go to the tv shows much.
I'll be rooting for Hunter though, you can't fail to get my respect after winning : Area title, British title, EBU and Commonwealth then challenge for genuine title![]()

I think that Hunter can pull it off. I wouldn't fancy his chances too much anywhere else but in Hartlepool, in front of his home crowd he has a good chance.
Molitor is real slick and has always been quality right from his amateur days, but he lacks power and has been inactive recently. Hunter can maybe get to him he way he got to Esham Pickering. Pickering is slick and tricky and Hunter got to him in the end. Pickering also posesses power that Molitor lacks which is worth remembering.
Molitor is class and its easy to picture him easily outboxing Hunter. Thats probably the more logical thing to expect really, but i just got a feeling that Hunter makes the best of this chance and nicks a tight decision after an entertaining fight.

Just back from the weigh-in. Both men made weight fine with a few ounces to spare. Molitor looks in fantastic condition and is ripped but he does look Smaller than Michael and I'd expect that to be even more obvious by the time they step in the ring. Just spoke to Michael and he is confident he'll pull this off. Can't wait for Friday now.

Molitor fancies chances against Hunter
8th Nov 2006
Hartlepool.co.uk
HOTSHOT Steve Molitor arrived in Hartlepool today with the chilling prediction that Michael Hunter has no chance of beating him in their world title showdown.
The Canadian Kid, unbeaten in 22 bouts, is many pundits' favourtite for Friday night's IBF super-bantamweight championship match at the Borough Hall.
Molitor says he has admiration for Hunter, but insists he will out-box and out-punch the hometown hero.
"Michael is in good shape and has a lot of heart but he is not in the same league as me as a boxer," he declared.
And the 26-year-old from Ontario believes he holds all the aces.
The North American champ said: "Is Michael Hunter faster than Steve Molitor? No.
"Is he a better boxer than Steve Molitor? No
"Does he hit harder than Steve Molitor? No.
"I know boxing is more than just that. It has a lot to do with heart and Michael's got great heart.
"He's got excellent conditioning as he proved to come back from being on the canvas twice to beat Esham Pickering.
"But he's not in the same class as me."
If Molitor sounds supremely confident, it is because he is.
A slippery southpaw, he talks as well as he boxes. And in the ring, he is feared to such an extent on the super-bantamweight scene that it is alleged that Mexican legend Israel Vazquez ducked out of fighting him before eventually being stripped of this title.
Already frustrated at being denied a shot at Vazquez, this will be Molitor's 'second' crack at the IBF world title.
The former Canadian amateur international travelled to South Africa in the summer to fight Gabula Vabaza for the vacant belt.
However, the September 1 clash sensationally fell through on the eve of the show after it emerged Vabaza had failed a medical.
The IBF then matched Molitor, rated five, with number three-ranked Hunter, with promoter Barry Hearn winning the purse bids and bringing the show to Hartlepool.
The collapse of the Johannesburg confrontation with Vabaza means Molitor has not fought since October last year, when he stopped veteran Argentine Jorge Antonio Paredes in three rounds in Toronto.
However, Molitor insists he has "no ring rust" and is not concerned about fighting in his rivals's hometown.
"I had a brilliant training camp ahead of the South African trip and that has continued into this fight," said the North American champion, who is trained by 1992 Olympic games bronze medalist Chris Johnson.
"Sure, I have not been under the lights for a while, but there is no ring-rust – I've sparred with world-class boxers.
"As for fighting in Michael's hometown, I have no concerns about that. I've fought away many times and I have been in more hostile territory than this."
Molitor has already visited these shores twice before and broken English hearts, having beaten Nicky Booth to win the Commonwealth bantamweight title in September 2002, in Brentwood, before outpointing Uganda's John Mackay in Bradford two years ago in a non-title affair.
And he warned Team Hunter not to read too much into that 12-round points triumph over Booth.
"I'm 10 times better now to what I was then," he said. "I'm being trained by the great Chris Johnson and I now hit harder and possess more skills.
"I'm looking forward to fighting in England again. I want to show that I'm a classy, slick boxer, but now I have more class and more power."

i'll be shouting myself hoarse for steve. he's been my fave boxer for a few years now and i was ringside for the booth match. however, its going to be close and i cant quite understand why silkov said "..if hunter is still around after 3 he can win" ???? i cant see SM beating hunter early, i really cant. wide points win for molitor but hunter gives it everything is my prediction.

Molitor did a great job. He totally dominated and outclassed Hunter, who did not win a round. Hunter did not want to continue becouse he know that he would had just taken more beating.
Hunter sure aint world-class.... After this fight I am quite sure that Dunne will beat him opponent today. He is fighting a guy that actually lost to Hunter...

He got beat by WORLD CLASS guy in Molitor who probably be a great champion for many years, Pickering's early title fight was KO'd in 1, stop all the bashin he got beat and fair play to Molitor very impressive.GOLJAT WARRIOR wrote:Molitor did a great job. They got right on my tits for constantly shouting that "doodley doo" song.
Sad act
i love molitor to bits. when youve seen a fighter develop and tipped him for a world title early in his career you get a bit chuffed when he finally makes it. i make no apology for backing a guy who has not had an easy road to the top.
i also do not apologise for the poor quality of my typing after the heavy celebrations.
razor, your man was outclassed.
