medina vs kelley

I know both these fighters are well past their best and less deserving than some of another world title tilt ...but still an interesting match up. Both have had some decent wins of late - kelley beat (albeit a faded) carlos hernandez in his last fight, whilst medina in his fight before last totally outclassed alvarez(who you may remember ko'ed michael gomez).
I havent seen kelley's latest fights - how did he look?
If not so good I say medina is worth a stint at 2/1(bet365).....

Saw Kelley's last fight, wasn't anything spectacular but he got the job done.

In a crossroads battle of former world champions, five-time titlist Manuel "Mantecas" Medina (67-15, 31 KOs) won a close majority decision over "The Flushing Flash" Kevin Kelley (59-8-2, 39 KOs). Scores were 114-114, 115-113, 115-113 for Medina, who looks to be in line for another title shot as the bout was an IBF jr lightweight eliminator.

HBO didn't show it though, instead they showed a replay of PBF-Baldomir

Can you believe that he's only 35!

The guy has been fighting since 1985 for crying out loud!

Well done to Medina. He is a true pro and I will be gutted when he retires. We need more like him, his record is excellent, alot of losses but that bears no relevance when you see the quality of opponents he has fought. I hope he gets his shot soon.

Good for Medina -- he should have a solid chance to upend Klassen for the IBF title if he actually gets the shot. I'm hopeful he can pull off a few more wins to possibly get himself into the HOF.

Good for Medina, if he can get Klassen in the states he should start as favourite.

Also have to say Well done to Kelley for turning back time a little in 2006. He looked a sad sight being anhilated by Barrera a few years back, seems to have been one round away from securing a title shot, against a worthy eliminator opponent.

Who knows, maybe Kelley and Medina will get it on again with the IBF title on the line.
