Klitchsko v Valuev
Klit is talking about a unification battle with Valuev. This is an intriguing fight for me, because for the very first time in his career, Vitali will be facing off against a much taller opponent, some 6 inches taller and 70 lbs heavier.
Whilst Wlad has the better offence, thus far, Valuev looks like he is pretty durable, and he is so big that he presents unique problems for opponents having to punch up at him. Smaller faster fighters have given him problems by jabbing and moving, but that's not really something Wlad can do surely.
Not sure who I favour, Wlad I think, but certainly not a foregone conclusion.

main question is what happens if the fight goes past 7-8 rounds , Wlad has fallen apart a couple of times before against Purrity and Brewster.
Valuev can't match Wlad for skill or punch power, but if he starts mauling Wlad and leans on him, making Wlad use alot of energy, then you may see Wlad fall apart again.

I see this as a good progression for Vladdie ... apparently he's now gonna work his way up the "HGH ladder," by fighting guys with increasing levels of HGH in their system. First in line is Nicky "Fee Fie Foe Fum" Valuev, who has a naturally excessive level of HGH (i.e. pituitary giantism), next in line will be Shannon "Eye Bee Moe Foe" Briggs, whose levels are probably even higher, but of the artificial sort.
Vlad and the Beanstalk.

Wlad shoultd win this comfortably, Valuev for all his size is no puncher he won't get the chance to keep landing on Wlad and wear him down the way he has with his sub-par opposition so far.
I agree Valuev will be very hard to KO, his skull looks bizarrely thick but I could see him getting cut, Larry Donald managed it. It will be interesting to see how Wlad's stamina holds out over 12 rounds with a larger opponent
Is Wlad signed with Don King now? If not I would have thought it would be a big barrier to this fight , or one with Maskev for that matter, actually happening.

On a side note I think the Chageev vs Ruiz fight this weekend could be very interesting. Chageev has looked very decent thus far, Ruiz is still probably a top 6 Heavyweight.
I think Briggs vs Wlad is more likely, see this as a mismatch myself.... Briggs has a punchers chance but that is all. Valuev vs Klitchsko is most intriguing, mainly cause they are the younger champions and the boxers (and I cannot believe I am typing this about Valuev) with the most potential to be long reigning champions.
Don't like Klitchsko's style since teaming up with Manny, he is so boring to watch fighting scared..... However, I do have to take my hat off - he has been fighting real live fighters in the last year and it does sound like it may continue. I am shocked (but not surprised) that Manny said it would be a tough fight to call between a prime Lewis and Klitchsko.... come on.
The heavyweight devision WILL ALWAYS be intriguing. Its the biggest prize in regular prize in Sport IMO. These unification fights will not be much of a specticle and the subsequent fights will not be great. The devision is at its lowest ebb and for the most part (some exceptions) the fights have been as dull as dishwater. However, there is always intrigue with the Heavyweight title, and that will remain.

Valuev doesn't fight with much pace, a few guys have tried to push him hard, but their shots just seemed to bounce right off him, and his leaning and clinching soon tired them out.
Wlad doesn't exactly have a phenomenal work rate though, Steward has taught him to pace himself and use the clinch to control the pace of the fight more than any improvements in his stamina.
Wlad's right hand is a bigger shot than anything Valuev has, but Valuev has a kind of clubbing strength sapping punchpower, even with fairly shit punch technique at 325 lbs, it's hard not to be heavy handed.
If Wlad cannot get him out of there early, I could well see Valuev tiring him out and stopping him. Not so easy to land that right hook he landed on Brewster when you are having to punch up.

I don't know about him wearing Wlad down and stopping him, I know Wlad has bad stamina but he is a huge step up in class. Both Ruiz and Larry Donald made to the last bell and in many people's opinion won vs Valuev. Much as I'm not totally convinced by Wlad but he's streets ahead of Larry Donald, surely Wlad's stamina is not that bad.
People seem to be buying into the myth that's been created around Valuev I see nothing in what he's done so far to suggest he has any chance to beat Wlad, although I do agree Valuev's size will make it hard for Wlad to clinch in the way he did against Peter.

Big fighters like Wlad prefer to fight shorter opponents.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Valuev doesn't fight with much pace, a few guys have tried to push him hard, but their shots just seemed to bounce right off him, and his leaning and clinching soon tired them out.

Lennox Lewis was great against ppl his own size or bigger, because he used to go aftre 'em & knock 'em out: Briggs, Ruddock, Grant, Golota. Even the 6'7 Akinwande was a cowering wreck desperate to hang on.
