Though I couldn't find any odds up yet, Bettingzone have Mayweather a 4/11 favourite...with De la H 2-1.

Tix prices will be brutal though, at least 500 bucks (there will be some cheaper but impossible to get, I have tried that before).

A new airline have just started flying direct to Vegas, MaxJet, in business class only planes - about a grand return.

No doubt it'll be an awesome occasion, Cinco De Mayo as well. Weird though as the Mexicans don't really consider Oscar one of their own - so a terrific Mexican undercard will be the order of the day.

And when I say mismatch, I don't mean Oscar wins easily, just that he's arranging for a very uneven playing field, with the odds heavily on his side ( he's even got Floyd's old man in his corner for good measure

)
so the talk by his team of this being a dangerous fight for Oscar, and him being the underdog sticks in the throat a bit.

No surprise if he insists on a smaller ring plus Reyes puncher gloves too.
Maybe BHop, Barrera & Mosley as the three judges?

I just checked on the MGM website for rooms that weekend and the cheapest I could find was $280 per night!

Time constraints, and family issues, just couldn't find the time to do it any more.

My interest in the sport has waned a little also, though stuff like this does

Cinqo de mayo is always going to be expensive, it's one of the biggest times of year there.

I still have a contact at the MGM grand, I wonder if there's any chance of sorting out something. Scott Ghertner is the head of the arena there, may see if I can get hold of him.

Thing to do is split a room, most of the rooms in the MGM sleep up to four people, mine had two double beds. If all you're looking for is somewhere to crash after getting tanked, then that's ok 140 quid for four people is alright.

The other thing to do is get one of these apartment hotel places, they have a bedroom with two doubles, and a sofa bed in the lounge. You can get an apartment room for about 350 dollars for a week last time I checked, and it's about 1/4 mile from the strip where the big hotels are. That way you save a lot of money on accomodation, and can spend it on nosebag and hookers instead

If that's your bag...

In seriousness, I'm going to try and round a few mates up for a big lads one for this, it's going to be absolutely mental.

I'm pretty sure I'll be looking to go to this. Will probably book late December / early January. Want to make sure it's definitely on in Vegas first. Have mentioned it to a few mates already and of course everybody is keen, but that always happens with these sort of things and most pull out as soon as it's time to cough up.

That's very good, where did you see that deal and have you been over there before? I'll probably wait until next month to book as thinking of taking in a few days in New York either before or afterwards. People always tell me 2-3 days is enough in Vegas but I don't see why. I'd have a flutter in the casinos but already have plenty of experience with them so would not be going stupidly crazy at them and losing a fortune on house games like a lot of people do.

I think the reason people say that, is that after a while it all gets a bit samey, all the hotels look the same, and most of the activities are quite similar. One casino floor and bar looks much like another after a while.

Having said that, there's bugger all point in being in Vegas for 3 days when the flight is 13 hours.

Yep, it's me. I've been on the phone non-stop to people gagging to get there since about 2 minutes after the announcement.

I can't see it being anywhere but Vegas as the Staples Center maybe bigger but they won't be stumping up the site fee that the MGM will. Also Oscar has not boxed anywhere else in years. A bargaining ploy perhaps? When i can get through to my mate at Golden Boy i'll let you know what he says.

Anyway i'll see you guys there. If people want i'd be happy to book things up. Using travel industry rates i could do this for about £800 each not sure how many i could get at that price though. Thursday to Sunday, Virgin flights, airport transfers, twin rooms at the MGM and a $200 seat.

Otherwise it would be more but you could get away with a deposit and the balance next year.

for anyone not looking to stay a week, i have stayed in the MOTEL 6 just 2 blocks from the strip...that's the generic, low-budget nationwide motel chain and rooms are clean but nothing fancy!! the one near the strip starts at $56 US dollars a night!!

if you make courtesy reservations NOW you can cancel if the fight goes to LA instead...otherwise, they will probably be booked if you wait to find out for sure if the fight's in vegas!

I've never been to a US fight but may go for this 1. Have an old girlfriend I visit in LA sometimes so I may fit it in with that somehow. Is there anyway to get pre-released tickets with these things?
