``Who's No. 1 Championship Challenge.''-results?

Post by Karlof »

Anyone knows the results from ``Who's No. 1 Championship Challenge.'' which would have taken place in Ohio las saturday? Ten fights between some of the best amateurs in USA. Shawn Porter should have fought Damar Singleton at 165 and Michael Hunter should have fought Felix Stewart at 201+ for exemple.

Must have been a local show sanctioned by the Ohio Association. Do you know what city it was in? I might be able to find out.

The event should have been taken place in "Stow Armony", so I guess the city is Stow then. I read about the event in the article below:

Thank you very much!!!
So the young Hunter avenged his only loss to an american and travels to England for a dual. Saw some clips from PAL and I must say that I like the "Son of the bounty Hunters" style.

Would be cool to see Hunter against Tyson Fury. Fury is like Hunter a talked about 18-yearold who like Hunter took a bronze in the latest U-19 WC. So let's hope that England brings up super heavyweight Fury for the dual.

TYSON FURY ?

Post by THE WATCHER »

Mr Karlof
You seem to get some pretty good information where are you from and how do you get your info ? I agree Tyson is more than likely his opponent in England
He has prepared for this dual with England by sparring with a 6' 4" 260lb from Russia and that should help him if he draws Tyson
allthough i have seen Tyson and he looks to be about 6' 7" they just missed each other in Morroco.

Mike Hunter is fairly green still but working hard to bring himself to the elite level. He needs to work more on stamina, which was noticable at the recent PAL tournament. He's a great kid - very polite and humble - a good representative for the U.S. It will be interesting to see how he does in the England dual; I'm also looking forward to seeing him compete against Mike Wilson in the U.S. Mike has years of experience and, when in shape and focused, is the best we have.

I didn't know, just made some wishful thinking. A fight between Hunter and Fury might be the beginning of beautiful rivalry and a fight people will referring to when they enter the ring for the undisputed heavyweight title in 2012.

Yes that is wishful thinking with the state of boxing and the heavy wt division we had better make a wish cross our fingers and throw a handful of coins in a well.
The best heavy wt fights have allready been fought.

Hopefully, there are few good heavyweights around. They said the same thing after Ali retired. Holmes was a very good heavyweight and then came Tyson who brought a lot of excitement to the sport. Lennox Lewis had his flaws, but I would put him up against some of the so called "all-time greats". Wladamir doesn't have the greatest chin or stamina, but he has some very good skills for a very big man.

GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN

Post by THE WATCHER »

Thats is all true but what about today ? Look at The amatuer heavy wt division who can bring home the GOLD OUR #1 guy Willet? I dont think he is a lock to even win his wt class and our #1 super hvy wt (WILSON) seems to be having some problems keeping him from competing.
I see our last Olympic rep (Estrada) at super took his 1st loss Saturday night he looked to be in terrible shape and was still boxing like a amateur and the Boxing Banker(Brock) was totaly outclassed by Klitchco. The future does not look bright for the big boys .maybe you could invite some of those Michigan lineman to give the Olympics a try since they wont be playing for a
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP this year 8)

What is keeping Wilson from competing? I think the SHW will be a toss up between him and Mike Hunter and I don't see anyone in the HW division who looks exciting.

He wasn't at the PAL due to injury and there haven't been any other competitions for him to participate in. Hope to see him in 2007 once the qualifiers start.

Yes, Estrada is not disciplined nor a strong puncher. Very funny about the Michigan linemen. You know I loved that result since I'm a Buckeye alum and fan. I am going to be trying to work with a D1 running back who is athletic, strong, fast and decent sized. We'll see what he has soon, but he will never be ready for the '08 Olympics.
