Gary Lockett v Roman Aramian not listed in schedule??

Post by JimmyJamJerusalem »

Gary Lockett v Roman Aramian, Nov 18th Newport.

How come it's not listed, I thought it was the main event??

This guy looks like he comes to fight, should be an entertaining night, hopefully a chance for a vintage Lockett KO. :box:

Aramian out with a viral infection. Replacement will be Ghanaian Ayittey Powers - who fought Richard Williams in 2004 - according to the BBC.

Don't think BBC have any interest in the sport anymore mate. Look out for it on ITV 4. No chance it will be on the terrestrial feed. :TU:

Not even sure this will be on ITV3/4. I think the next boxing ITV are showing is the Skelton-Harrison bill at the start of December.

I agree - I think that this would be a cracker.

Thanks ! :TU:

IMO I think that this is Gary's toughest test yet - I really hope that he does well so it sets him up for a shot for something decent- he's got to start fighting tougher opponents.

I saw this guy getting taken apart easily by Richard Williams. I don't see how he's more qualified and tougher than Ryan Rhodes who gave Locket all the trouble he could handle. :TU:

Can;t argue with you - just watched it and Powers didn't come for a fight. I was under the impression that he had a granite chin and a real hard bang... Very disapointed.

Powers was a joke. So negative!! Tough chine mind, but rarley moved his hands long enough to expose it.

Lockett looked good, but wasn't able to entertain as he'd like.

I hate late replacements.

I'm really getting the impression Lockett is on the Sportsnetwork road to nowhere.

The British middleweight scene has the potenial to explode into life very soon and Gary should be in the mix, but how likely is that with him being with SN and a WBU dead weight title around his neck. The one positive he does have being with SN is that the WBO blatently give inflated ratings to Warren's troops.

Sad but true Mr B!

SN do Gary NO favours, and I've often thought a new promoter would do Gary's career wonders!! There are good fights out there from which Gary could earn big $$$, but he never gets them! Rhodes was the first high(ish) profile opponent in 3-4 years, and I'm sure SN were rooting for a Rhodes victory!!

I'd love to see Gary in there with the likes of Williams, Dann, Eastman etc, as he'd give em all a hiding, but what is the likelyhood??

Yeah a real waste of an exciting puncher. This shouldn't come as a surprise from the same promoter who has squandered Wayne Alexander's career too.

As I say, the middleweight division has the potential to grab everyones attention with a multitude of cracking punch-ups that could be made. Fingers crossed SN don't start signing up some of the prime candidates and ruin this superb possibility  .

Williams-Eastman up first for the actual title.

Winner hopefully faces winner of Elcock-Bendall.

I'd then love to see Darren Barker v Darren McDermott face off with the winner get straight crack at the British title. (This is very hopeful considering McDermott has Dean Powell in his corner and may well take him down the same dead end as Lockett).

Dann may come back, you never know, and may push for another crack at the British. Matthew Thirlwall's out there slow burning and Paul Smith, if SN dare play the game, could cause a stir.

Just dreaming, but this lot could make compulsive viewing :box:

I think that Scott is going to fight early next year and then maybe have a crack at the winner of Eastman Williams...
