Mundine-Acosta/Stevens-Primera

Anthony "The Man" Mundine stopped unremarkable Argentinian Ruben Acosta in four rounds on Wednesday night. Acosta had never previously ventured out of Argentina and looked an easy enough opponent as Mundine limbered up for a second shot at the WBA title.

Also on 15th November at Super Middleweight Curtis Stevens avenged his solitary career loss with an eight round points win over veteran Marcos Primera. Last time round Stevens was winning before seemingly running low on reserves and copping some heavy shots from Primera who had hung in there, the fight could possibly have been stopped early. Stevens camp vehemently protested. The rematch held scores of 72-78, 72-79 & 72-80 so a unanimous revenge win for prospect Stevens.

Any thoughts?

Just watched this = Acosta was slippery and was on the back foot all fight. Nice body shot that finshed him.

Good news, I like Mundine. He was injured, had to have surgery on his right foot, which kept him out the gym for 2 months. So he eased back and keeps his WBA #1 position anyway.

He gets to either face Soliman or Lacy for the vacant WBA regular belt.

For my money, Mundine would make Lacy look like a muscle bound buffoon. Choc is a fine boxer, very underrated, and so long as he keeps away from Kessler (whom he gave a very hard time), he can be a title holder.

I agree on the Lacy point mate, Mundine would box the ears off one dimensional slugger Lacy. I think Kessler has his number though, watched that fight three times now, Kessler's jab is a thing of beauty...really old school.

I think Mundine will always give Kessler problems. Although that was a subpar Kessler with bad sparring and a back injury. No doubt Mundine's recent success has been from the confidence gained from that fight.

I like seeing this matured Mundine. Fine boxer, really good to watch on his day.

I have to agree Steve, Kessler has one of the best jabs i have seen.

Staying on a Super Middleweight theme i watched Denis Inkin upset Mario Veit in Germany and was impressed. Inkin showed an excellent jab too and good variety, the left hook-bodyshot-right uppercut combination just stunned Veit at the finish and took it all out of him. Don't forget Mario was coming off the back of a good win over unbeaten Jurgen Brahmer. Inkin looks one to watch.
