AKINWANDE UPSET! WHAT HAPPENED?
Unable to locate a report, but Henry Akinwande (either 41 or 43 dependent on which birth certificate you trust) dropped a split decision to unknown Oleg Platov out in Germany.
Looks like its time to hang em up old boy.

Hardly unknown? Who the hell knows him outside a hardcore boxing forum of brits and Europeans my tragically named fellow poster? He's had 22 fights mostly out in Belgium over unknowns so i think i'll stick with my unknown tag.
However he now has a scalp over a high profile name in the UK or US, though i doubt anyone will take it seriously due to Henrys age & bad rep.
But im trying to find out what happened in the fight.
Was it broadcast in the UK?
PS a fight between Henry & Audley/or/Danny would be awesome!

Are you mentally ill, a fight between any combination of those three would be dreadful.overhand_right wrote:Hardly unknown? It actually came into my head just now that Ruiz-Akinwande would make a good cross-roads fightjamesmcdonnell wrote:Are you mentally ill, a fight between any combination of those three would be dreadful.overhand_right wrote:Hardly unknown? I was ringside the night a young Akinwande KO'd Tucker Richards on a early Richie Woodhall undercard in the freezing cold Ice Rink in Telford, Shropshire.
http://www.boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=4302
Akinwande looked so tall but very thin, even then there was talk of him fighting old amateur rival Herbie Hide. The thing I remember most about that fight was as a dejected Tucker Richards left the ring a few Telford cavemen started shouting abuse at him. Big Tucker started to make his way towards the drunken idiots untill his cornermen pulled him away. You should have seen the look on the Cavemens faces when Big Tucker started looming towards them, you could almost smell their fear.
Sadly Tucker Richards died shortly after due to a heart condition.

Good story Joe, never knew you had seen the legendary Octopus in the flesh. As for those fans, no real boxing fan would ever shout abuse at a losing fighter as he left the ring, im glad Richards scared those cowards. I also always wondered why Richards died.
Why Akinwande and Hide have never boxed as pro's always pissed me off. A promoter could still put these two against each other in a 'Crossroads' fight in some London arena & make a nice payday. Come on Derek Williams get your arse in gear!

i would explain the joke livingstone but i'm laughing my socks off at the post above re akinwande and audley.
ok. long, long ago there was a tv soap opera called "crossroads" - by popular opinion the worst soap ever (even worse than eastenders, so thatll show you how bad it was). the whole thing was set in a motel in the midlands and the action took place among the staff of this motel. the owner was one MEG RICHARDSON played by .....oh man what was her name..NOEL GORDON thats it, she wasnt to be messed about hence the jape and the play on words "crossroads" i hope this enlightens you, you young whippersnapper.
i wont bother explaining about miss diane
