Because he folded against Rybacki and, when offered a third chance to meet Froch initially accepted only then to change his mind citing money, preparation time etc etc.

Dodson talks the talk but can't walk the walk. If he truly believed he had the beating of Froch he would have taken the fight at the third time of asking, or even battled through the pain barrier when he was injured on the previous two occasions (though I don't doubt Dodson WAS genuinely sidelined).

Dodson, at his best, can be a real handful, but he's always had questionable stamina and suffered from inconsistency. He ran out of gas and folded against Rybicki, and was blowing hard against Barbosa (his best win, for sure but luckily for Dodson it was only scheduled over 8rds).

He'll give Froch a run for his money for 8 right rounds, he may even have Froch in trouble, but once he sees Froch can absorb his best shots his old failings will catch up with him and the self-doubts will resurface - illustrated perfectly by Dodson's repeated rallying calls on internet boxing forums like this.

Dodson, for all his apparent confidence, ultimately doesn't believe he can do it. He'll choke when the going gets really tough, in my opinion.

Well this is what he had to say about those defeats to ESB....

Moreno, he only beat me on a cut. I pounded him for every round, was seven points clear when the fight was stopped. Rybacki, I pounded him, he only beat me on a body shot. He hit me with a body shot that winded me, it never hurt me though. I was 4 points clear going into the last round and he just hit me with one of those shots that I wasn’t expecting, and it winded me. I got my breath back, and my pride and inexperience took over, and I tried to slug it out with him. Instead of just bouncing away and using my boxing ability, I got involved. You see in most of my fights I love a scrap, and he just caught me off guards. Even his manager Krzysztof, the fella that works for Barry Hearn, said to me it shouldn’t have been stopped and that I should have been given the benefit of the doubt as I was the champion and well ahead on the cards. There was ten seconds on the clock before the end of the round and I wished they’d have given me the benefit of the doubt, but it’s just one of those things, and it goes to show I’ve had some tough early fights in my career. The guy was 12 fights unbeaten, 7 knockouts, he was a decent fighter, and I pounded him for 7, 8 rounds before getting tired due to old stamina problems I had.

Rybacki travelled overseas and beat Dodson. Sky showed some of that fight and there can no arguments or excuses, Rybacki won fair and sqare.

Reading that could make you think that "oh, it was only a body shot so it doesn't really matter". Of course it matters AND counts. Surely "winded" is being hurt, otherwise nothing would have come of it?

How is Dodsons power? Should he be able to control the centre of the ring and back Froch up?

If Dodson wins I hope that his victory speech is a little more coherent than his post. Nevertheless good luck to him (but I tend to agree with Ben Carey's assessment of this fight).

I think people are more optimistic of Dodson’s chances, and swayed somewhat because he posts on here. At the end of the day it won’t help him on Friday night.

I just don’t see Froch beating Magee, but then finding Tony Dodson is his nemesis on route to a world title shot. Froch’s chin is pretty solid – its not like he does the electric boogaloo when he gets tagged – and I’m not sure Dodson has it in his arsenal to do the job.

My prediction is that Dodson comes out aggressively and looks (prays) to somehow stop Froch early on. He might even win the early rounds, but I think he’ll look to fight at a pace which isn’t sustainable over the full distance and simply get stopped late on.

Anyway, enough crystal ball gazing – I just hope it’s a good one!

Very disrespectful of Jim Carrey. Good luck Tony. Nothing wrong with having confidence in yourself.

Ignore the haters. They dont understand you cant just jump in a boxing ring from a car crash and genuine injuries. :TU:

It's complete rubbish that Dodson has no balls etc. Why criticise him for talking up his chances when Froch has been doing it too? He's entitled to talk because at the end of the day it's him who has the balls to go in there against Froch and attempt to back up his words. If anybody doesn't have balls it's the lads coming in here talking sh1t about others because they have the safety of an internet alias to hide behind. I don't think any prick sitting at home watching TV has any right to come out saying that a fighter has no balls, especially one who is stepping up to the plate to take on the fighter he has been mouthing off about.

Eh? Most ironic comment of the year judging by the shit you've spouted in this thread.

Amazing how personal the attacks on Dodson seem to be. C*nt, keyboard warrior, no balls etc...... Tony ought to tan all of your arses 8) Big respect to Dodson for taking the fight and here's to a good one :TU:

I couldnt in all honesty claim to be a Dodson fan but I certainly will be if he beats Froch - I can say however I have never disliked any boxer more than Froch - I dont like his arrogant style and I dislike the man even more - Note I havent said hate, thats reserved for one person only, the ex - I do respect Tony for what he has done in the ring and for comming back after a serious accident - I want him to cause the upset which might just stop Froch mouthing off and calling out Joe Calzaghe - Problem is I am going to have to come on here to find out how the fight went - I hope you guys know its on SS2 NOT SS1 - I only have SS1 so somebody please give a good blow for blow report - Come on Tony let your fists do the talking and catch him early - If Froch survives to the final bell he will keep the title IMO - Good luck Tony, I think you have a fair number of us in your corner so make us happy on the night.

Despite my loathing of the Scouse bullshitter, I actually think he'll put up a pretty decent showing. But Dodson ultimately lacks stamina, balls and consistency to win.

Froch late stoppage. Good fight.

As long as Tony Dodson comes out of the ring fit and healthy and he is perfectly okay then I hope Carl Froch gives him a right royal thrashing ...

I completely agree with Ben Carey's thoughts on Dodson ... There are some of you lot stating Carey is wrong in stating what he has but yet if you look at some comments on the various threads concerning Froch it has left me a tadge confused that it is alright to have a pop at Froch but just because Dodson visits the forum that makes the situation different???

I have to say I am surprised that Tony Dodson is turning up for the fight as there is a very clear audit trail of him dropping out of arranged fights with Carl Froch for whatever reasons.

Dodson has no choice but to put up a brave showing for the fight ... after all it is him who has had plenty to say concerning the fight, Carl Froch etc etc on the various boxing forums, where as Froch has only reacted to what Dodson has been spouting!!!

Carl Froch is a class act and I feel has the talent to be a world champion. There have been comments concerning the way he holds his hands so low ... if you look at the fights he has indeed been smacked a few times on the chin ... and thus if your perceptions of his chin are correct why hasn't Froch visited the canvas or ever looked like visiting it??

My feelings are that many of you are allowing your dislike of Froch to cloud your judgement concerning his abilities as a boxer.

I will repeat as long as Tony Dodson can walk from the ring in a perfect healthy condition then I hope he is totally embarassed by Froch ... Dodson makes out that he is the innocent party in all this and I will further repeat he has plenty to say on the matter and plenty to say about Carl Froch ... I hope Dodson loses the fight in the first 2 or 3 rounds but knowing Froch he will make Dodson suffer a tadge before finishing the job around the half way mark.

Absolute rhetoric, Dodson was clearly injured before and is fit and healthy now and the fight goes ahead.
