Klassen interested in Arthur

THE promoter of South African IBF and IBO world superfeatherweight champion Malcolm Klassen has confirmed that a home world title shot for Edinburgh's European champion Alex Arthur is possible next year - if the money offered is right.

Rodney Berman is no stranger to Scotland, having brought over challengers in the 1990s for Irvine's then WBO light-flyweight champion, Paul Weir. Berman said: "If the money was right we would certainly be interested in looking at Malcolm Klassen defending his titles against Alex Arthur in either Glasgow or Edinburgh - which- ever of those two venues would sell the most tickets.

"We are also looking at taking Malcolm to Las Vegas to defend his titles there but we would be willing to listen to any offer that Alex Arthur's management team wanted to make to us. Fighting Arthur in Scotland wouldn't be a problem for us."

anyone know much about this klassen bloke apart from him being the weakest of the super feather champs?

Don't know much about him, but he has been a featherweight all his career, as for being the weakest titleholder in the Super feather division, thats not hard as he has Pacquiao , Barrera, Valero and Guzman as the other title holders or in Pacquiao's case the No1 spot.

So if i was Warren i'd be delighted that Klassen is open to offers.

That's not really a fair assessment. He just went up to super feather & beat one hell of a fighter in St Clair.

St Clair has a close, could've gone either way type of win over Jackson Asiku, gave a young Corrales a very hard time, beat Baloyi in SA then lost what has been referred to as a modern classic vs Malkolm Klassen. A fight that is supposed to be way better than the slightly bloated (in reputation) Valero-Mosquera.

Beating St Clair makes him a force to be reckoned with. But he's not experienced at championship level, doesn't have a KO punch, moved up from featherweight - so i can see why they prefer Klassen over the others.

Klassen has been getting rave reviews in South Africa. Apparently he's the best thing they've seen in years.
