GREAT IBEABUCHI PIC IN NEW RING MAGAZINE!!

Post by shoutout »

just read alot of the latest ring magazine while standing in a LONG grocery store line...very good issue---even if all the news is over a month old!!

but the highlight of this better-than-average issue is the picture in upper left corner of page 26 featuring none other than ike ibeabuchi---standly proudly with his mom at his recent diploma presentation ceremony (in prison)...seems he earned an associate degree in some field i cannot remember!! he is all decked out in cap & gown---with a big old grin & SHOULDER-LENGTH HAIR---very funny!!

at least he knows by the time he gets out of the slammer he will probably need to pursue another line of work besides boxing!! :TU:

Mods, lock this thread. There is an official Ike thread which should be utilized.

Only kidding shoutout, although I give it a couple hours max I'm afraid.

How did he look weight-wise? In the interview I posted in the unnofical official Ike thread, he said he trained every day, but didn't want to go into the details.

It was 2 associates degrees, one in General Studies & the other in Business.

As far as his weight he is looking alittle pudgy these days, though its hard to tell because he is in a graduation gown.

It just shows how poor the HW division is, that all hopes are pinned on a ring rusty con with issues!!!!! :box:

Let me ask you, is there a letter printed in the issue complaining about how their constant potshots at the UFC make them sound petty and insecure? I've grown rather sick of this phenomenon and wrote them a mail, and am strongly considering not purchasing their magazine anymore because of it.

The question is, How good would have Ike been? :box:

He would have wiped the floor with the current crop of dengerates in the HW division, but that is not saying anything really.

Same question can be asked of David Tua had he taken training seriously. Remember there wasn't much to separate the two when they fought.

Hmm, I'm not sure how long Ike's career would have lasted the way he absorbed shots. He was a very aggressive fighter, but it's worth remembering that he started going crazy after the terrific punishment he took from Tua. Coincidence, maybe, but it's certainly not conducive to a long career to take hundreds of full blooded shots from massive punchers.

Good shout.

Aggressive fighters do not have long careers, you're right.

This prison sentence may have preserved him, in a perverse kind of way. :box:

No, only UFC letter is in regards to Mike Tyson fighting in the UFC.
The writer is challenging Dana White's claim that Mike would get
destroyed in the UFC. The writer claims the opposite that Mike
would wipe out most UFC fighters with one punch. So I would say
it is not a pro-UFC letter.

The other letters are about
Jay Nady being incompetent
What happened to David Ried
Telling The Ring not to ignore Tomasz Adamek
Tribute to Fernando Vargas
Thanking The Ring for their tribute to Leonard vs Hearns
Blasting FSN for their coverage of Holyfields comeback.

That's actually the letter that set me off. It was so stupid and ignorant I couldn't believe they printed it. Jeff Ryan has already done a lot of UFC-bashing in his moronic column but the fact that they printed and legitimized that letter just pushed me over the edge.

We'll have to see how fair and balanced they are in the next few issues, if they print your letter or not.

ike had underlying psychological problems well before the tua fight & that bout was the first punishment of ANY kind for him, since he fought only scrubs before that!! the fact that his pre-existing psych issues BOILED OVER after the tua bout is nothing more than co-incidental... :TU:

agreed 100%, but even that would still be a whole lot better than spending all these years in the slammer!! :TU:
