Pele Reid is BACK!

Post by Lightsoot »

I've got a soft spot for Pele Reid. He's back this Friday. What might he achieve?

A look back at Pele's career thus far

Pele might not have a chin made of iron, but he certainly is one of the most athletic, heavy handed fighters of recent times.

I welcome his comeback and he will certainly bring excitement back to a tepid domestic heavyweight scene.

He could make a decent run and give Gammer something to think about, all being well.

HE is still a face around the Birmingham kickboxing scene, so I know he has maintained his excellent conditioning; just hope he can avoid shipping blows for long enough to gie us some exciting fights!

BBN's midlands correspondent Tom Podmore did a piece on Pele a few weeks ago.

Reid fights Paul King on Friday. King, on the whole, is durable, but has been stopped by Gammer and Baker, so if Reid's power has held up (the last thing to go as they say) it should be goodnight Viena fairly early.

Spoke to Reid today. Refreshingly humble and down to earth, and provides a frank assessment of his career to date.

After winning his comback in December, Podmore reports on BBN that Pele Reid will fight on Feb 23rd in Brum. Macklin will be on the card fighting at middle.

Yes, Pele fights on Macklin's undercard at the AVLC. He also fights on Wayne Elcock's undercard a month later.

Macklin, by the way, fights a former Wayne Elcock foe on the 23rd. It's a good fight and one Matt seems excited about.

Macklin and Reid should fight each other and then call it a day.
