I never heard of Manfredo even after the ontender as I couldn't give a shite to watch the Contender.

No, it's true, I do have something to say, I'm just lost for words in the face of such bullshit.

Allow me to paraphrase for a minute though: "Manfredo hasn’t boxed anyone of particularly good stature, is best known in America for losing a few fights and has a small following of fans."

Although I'd add the following: "I, Joe Calzaghe, have not given a shit about the outside world for the near ten years I've been 'champion', and I certainly couldn't have given a fornicate about America for most of that time, which makes it all the more amazing that I finally give a toss about the U.S. market as a legacy-builder at a time when I've already spoken about retirement. I really am a waste of space, aren't I?"

Seriously, Calzaghe must be inhabiting a parralel universe if he thinks that Manfredo is 'globally recognised.'

Once he sweeps up the remaining belt (presuming he does) I have a feeling Kessler won't give a shite about Calzaghe any more, and given the way Calzaghe is conducting his career, neither will anyone else.

A 'true champion' would want to garner a win over Kessler and shut his big mouth, but I suspect Joe isn't in the slightest bit interested in that.

As I suspected, after a career best win over Lacy it's gone back to business as usual for Calzaghe. Lacy apart, it's one farce after another.THUMBS DOWN

Hmm, I cannot see 40,000 turning out for this, I know the Contender was popular, but it's not like Manfredo is DeLaHoya is it? When was the last time ANYONE in this country got 40,000, as far as I can remember it was Ben v Eubank, I think the 2nd fight?

I loved it when Calzaghe said about Roach and Ray Leonard working with him proved his credentials, hmm, maybe it's something to do with the fact they know they are going to earn some nice money.

Ray Leonard has obviously used the contender show to get him back into boxing this time in management, after his fairly miserable efforts as a promoter.

Looks like he's lucked out too, Manfredo must be getting a nice payday for this.

Whoever runs that Calzaghe site is a freakin moron. Kessler's competition level is as good if not better than Calzaghe's in recent times. He just beat Beyer to unify the titles for christs sake.

40,000? My arse they will be lucky to get half that.

Yes, and while Manfredo is a big name in the states, he's not going to put arses on seats over here.

Actually prefer Manfredo to alot of the other names Calzaghe has fought of late.... exlcuding Lacy.

Manfredo is more worthy than the likes of Bika, Ashira etc. I think Manfredo is a top ten fighter and his form post contender and at a new weight has been okay.

He is no Bute or even Andrande, but okay.... Not worthy of a title fight, but as bout as worthy as say Carl Froch.

Manfredo isn't a great fight-certainly if Calzaghe is as good as he would have us believe-but he is a TV fighter, a fairly safe 'name' who shouldnt be that much of a threat. But this is the trend of Joe's career!

Well Pundit did say he's a top 15 super middle which most of Joe's opp wern't.
