..ron lyle and george foreman traded some killer shots.....each time they went down it looked as if they were OUT....lyle finally WAS out....but it was bombs away while it lasted....
i don't think the ones before the final blockbuster were as hard....but both walcott and marciano took some biggies from each other and survived....
zale and graziano each had the other in trouble in their first two fights...before the one who took the most beating survived and kayoed the other one....alas...there's no record of these fights but i am going by written accounts plus being told by a guy who saw the first one...
...gatti in the first ward fight....in that round where it looked as if the ref should have stopped it..and then gattie came back and threw some big ones of his own...
joe louis would have been knocked out of the ring if it hadn't been for the ropes....way on the other side from where tami mauriello hit him with a pip in the first seconds of their fight. the bomber really looked sick hangiing on the ropes....but by the time tami got there to follow up the great recuperative powers of louis brought him back to demolish tami.
not a one shot..but the combinations that holyfield kept pouring on to foreman would have put just about anyone down...probably out...but foremand just kept on coming.....cheesburger belly and all...
ps..why did i have to log on to get this one posted?.....never had to do that before.....just got on automatically....

Yep that's the hardest punch I've ever seen anyone get up from and carry on - a near miracle, and the way he staggered onto the ropes after, a lot of ref's might've stopped it.ringsider wrote:Larry Holmes surviving the Ernie Shavers right hand bomb that put Holmes on the deck....what a chin to survive that!!![]()
And bear in mind that was the best punch from possibly the hardest hitter to ever step inside a boxing ring.

Another big punch Holmes was able to survive was when Renaldo Snipes caught him flush with a punch Larry never saw. Although Snipes was not the biggest punching heavyweight it looked like he got everything behind this one punch. Larry was so wobbly he even fell a second time from the same punch and was almost counted out. Their was also enough time left in the round for Snipes to capitalize.
