Herbie Hide vs Joseph Chingangu

This happened in late 2001, when Herbie was making a comeback one victory removed from his loss to Klitschko.
Herbie was hot favourite against this overweight journeyman, and looked ok in the early exchanges before getting tagged whilst the ref tried to break the two up.
Herbie was down, though the punch didn't look conclusive.
He threw missed punches wildy, befoe being knoced down a couple more times in the round, by jabs- the sheer disbelief in commentators Jim Neilly and Richie Woodall voices was priceless! here we are a 2 time WBO getting knocked all over the place by a guy who was perceived as an overweight bum!
Hide made it into round 2, glassy eyed before Joesph threw another meaty punch that landed right on the nose, and herbie collapsed in a heap, not moving for several minutes.
Ths disdain in the crowd was obvious as some sarcastically waved bye bye as the ref waved it off, and give Chingagu a mighty roar of approval.

To make it funnier Hides rival Danny Williams was a BBC pundit and mocked Herbie throughout, and host John Inverdale even smirked thats the end of herbie hide then!

It was funny because Herbie has always acted like a dik and has long been a troublecauser. Seeing an overweight bum spark him out without landing a true KO blow, and the shock factor of it all makes it (in a strange way) one of my favourite fights in a british ring

I don't think I've ever seen a heavyweight with worse punch resistance than Herbie Hide. The first shot that put him down against both Bowe and Klitchsko, barely clipped the top of his head, but that was enough to short circuit his entire nervous system, it's like he didn't have a skull or something....hey maybe that's it!

I swear, if me and Herbie had a fight, I reckon that if I could land first, I could probably stop him....course if he landed first, my family would be attending my funeral a few days later.

Well the fight that made me laugh the most (within the past few years) is the fight that Danny Williams had against some guy that wore a wig to the ring and attempted a behind the back punch

Recent fight...Shelby Gross vs Bobby Gunn...ended up being a NC, but was legit the worst bit of fight and refereeing I've ever seen in my life.

John Mugabi v Rene Jacquot - the fired up French champ makes his way to the ring in front of an adoring, cheering home crowd, to the inspiring music of eye of the tiger.
Rene comes out for the first round, circles menacingly, then twists his ankle and is counted out in agony inside a round.

Two minutes later he's carried out on the shoulders of his corner team back to the dressing room, and some joker puts eye of the tiger on the sound system while he's carried out.

Can any of you guys remember Tony Wilson's mum getting on the ring apron and trying to clobber his opponent with her shoe. Absolutely hilarious. Even funnier was the fact his opponent didn't want to know after that.

For actually laughing out loud thats a cracking call. It was on the Hatton Tszyu undercard and quite a few mates were round having a few beers... that fight was such a shit advert for boxing.

I reckon that stupid prick with the fan cost Bowe that fight. He was starting to Hammer Holyfield prior to that, and then when he came back into the ring after the break, he was much more sluggish and the fight turned the other way.

Still, Riddicks friends and family certainly took it out on the fan man, I remember one of his crew mashing him over the head with one of those massive old fashioned mobile phones. My mate's got one of those, he uses it as security in his mobile phone shop, it weighs as much as a house brick! The idiot got stomped big time and carted off in a neck brace.

The Fanman is dead now, committed suicide a few years ago.

Going back into that fight, Bowe's wife who was ringside and 4 months pregnant, fainted after the incident and was taken away to hospital. Apparently Bowe knew this too so it would have to have had an additional effect on his performance.

That bloke with the mobile was Riddick's "security boss" and could be seen a few years later doing exactly the same thing to Andrew Golota's head.

Though Golota was lucky, as mobile phones had got slightly smaller in the passing years!

A funny incident that made me laugh was when Jamie Moore squared up to David Walker for the referees instructions. When told to touch gloves, Moore unintentionally hurt Walker by hitting his body, leaving Walker going to his corner with a huge grimace on his face.

In trouble before the bout had even started.

Alternatively, when Judah whacked Baldomir to the body on the referees instructions to touch gloves made me angry.
