Now, I know you're all feeling a bit let down, what with Skelton pulling out, and then Scott Harrison leading everyone a merry dance. But don't be too down-heartened. Because the BBC are reporting that the Khan-Drilzane fight is going to be for the IBF intercontinental light welterweight title, which surprisingly, is vacant right now. Bet you're all glad you bought tickets now.

That's going to shoot Khan up the IBF list and the IBF is going to push into the mandatory slot quicker than a tick. If he stays at 140, Hatton/Khan wouldn't be too far off.

To become mandatory Khan would have to fight top 10 world class fighters.

He hasn't even fought a remotely competitive British journeyman yet, alone for an English belt.

allegedly will keep him in with scrubs and go for the WBU belt, bypassing any British or European titles.

That makes things potentially a little more interesting, if only for the potential sight of Khan gassing and getting stopped by a feather-fisted puncher

Amir Khan is one of the reasons that amatuer boxing clubs are getting busier, he's an excellent role model for youngsters as well.

I can't understand all this Khan bashing either. He's still only a lad at the moment and his career is going pretty much the way it should. Of course he is going to be protected by FW (that's his MO), but that is not the kid's fault. He can not be held responsible for the decisions that are made on his behalf ie. headlining ITV boxing coverage etc.

I am looking forward to him fulfilling his undoubted potential which will be a few years away yet despite his own world title claims.

I'm not saying it should, or that I'd want to see it, but with 140 being emptied out a bit, Khan with a few IC defenses would climb up the IBF rankings quickly. There are numerous fighters who receive high rankings just for keeping lower belts.

I don't know why Khan is classed as LW on boxrec anyhow. He has never fought at that weight since he turned pro.

Khan is doin as well as he can. Fantastic Olympic performance and rematch win against Kindelin. Yep some would have liked to have seen him go in against more proven fighters, however, as a pro he is a novice and therefore, unproven himself. I have no problems with his pro fights so far. Seems like a nice lad with talent and ambition. Good luck to him.

Not criticising Khan at all, but the IBF should be investigated. How can they all of a sudden vacate and sanction this fight.

Since when has I/C title fights been over 10 rounds. Making up the rules as they go along.

Khan is a joke as far as I'm concerned, bottled it in the ABAS and now fighting a string of stoolpigeons about half his size... now he's got a 'title' shot against TBC... why aren't I excited I wonder!!...
and Warren had the nerve to Criticise Audelys early competition!!....
Mind you Saturdays looking up for me as my bird has come over from Prague, so I dont really care how much Danny Williams weighs anymore!... 8)

These I/C titles are a guaranteed quick move up the relevant sanctioning body's rankings. Maybe, looking on the bright side, this belt will precipitate some better opposition for Khan in the very near future.

If Khan charged with dangerous driving, he wont go to jail but ban driving on the road. Big deal.
