Don't think it is that puzzling. It would lead me to believe that Danny does a lot of weight training during the build up to fights, and this actually jacks his weight up. Weighing less doesn't mean he is fitter, and could just be due to muscle atrophy from sitting around on his backside. Muscle is three times as dense as fat, and I think Danny looks in worse shape than he did against Skelton, despite weighing a lot less. Of course, this is just an observation based on a few photographs, but his plunging weight when he comes in at short notice, and the fact he mentioned in a recent interview that he enjoys lifting weights, leads me to believe this is why he keeps getting heavier. When danny piles on the pounds, instead of training to shift weight, he adds even more weight by jacking weights around. It's quite common to see big fat monsters in the gym lifting huge weights who don't look very strong because they are so overweight.
Lifting weights doesnt increase bodyweight though, Danny must bulk up eating high protein high carb foods also coming into fights.

Muscle uses up allot of oxygen though, especially muscle built during weights - look at Bruno. It makes you more explosive but that in turn burns energy and the muscle is built for short term activity not for more than 20seconds of work - effectively your training your body to be gassed after 20seconds of action.

Weight training has its place to develop explosive punches - take a boxer on the pads have him do some explosive jerks (that sounds really bad) then take him back on the pads. He will be instantly punching with more power.
How can lifting weights not make you heavier??... I thought you were an expert in this area?!... everyone knows that muscle weighs more than fat... I 've done it myself... wanted to get fit, started using weights and ended up heavier than before but the fat/flab had gone to muscle.... its not rocket science...

Slightly incorrect there. The flab won't have turned to muscle, that's physically impossible. It's more likely that you retained the same amount of fat, or even lost a little, whilst gaining much denser muscle tissue.

I'm about 13 stone 7 at the moment (partly due to a terrible experience last weekend with home cooked Lobster which led to a very unpleasant week)

when I weight trained 4 times a week, doing moderate weights and medium reps, I was about 14 stone 10, but was definetly in better shape than I am now. I never had particularly low body fat, but my overall shape was much better, and I was a lot fitter than now as I actually did cardio training as well.

Perhaps Im being a little cynical here but given the recent hammering Uncle Frankies show on Saturday has taken with the drop outs of Skelton and Harrison and the mystifying promotion of the Khan fight to a 'title' bout, would I be being a little to tired of it all if i was to suggest that perhaps this incident wasnt as spontaneous as it may appear. Handy piece of timing... knock the drop outs off the back page, gloss over the manufactured title and juice up the main bout (especially needed given their last meeting). Suddenly everyones (supposed to be) happy again eagerly anticipating a repeat of this 'grudge match' and a ....ahem... title fight... to boot.

You probably had a tendency to consume more calories than you used. Muscle does weigh more than fat but fat can't turn into muscle (as James rightly says you can't turn bodyfat to muscle) and even if it could 1kg of fat can't magically become 2kg of muscle. So basically when you hit the weights you will have increased the amount you ate.

If you have genuinely reduced bodyfat and added muscle whats the problem you'll look allot better and be more healthy for it - unless you a boxer trying to make weight.

According to Spencer Fearon Danny is actually 18 11 but those duffers couldn't get the conversions from KG correct.

What a pathetic episode, these two blubbers better start throwing punches in the ring tomorrow night after this debacle. Seems like more aggression was shown at this weigh-in than in the whole 12 rounds of the last "bout".

I agree, my point really was that Williams could be lighter but still 'fatter' than in his last fight. He probably flabs out between fights then when he trains builds up muscle tone which adds to a weight a little. Either way its a silly thing to do imo, Williams best attribute used to be his speed and even his workrate used to be pretty good... ah! happy days those were! :x

Don't mention lobster to me!... I tend to stick to fishfingers after my last encounter with a lobster!.
This little tussle between Williams and Harrison had 'stunt' written all over it, all rather unseemly and tacky I'd say, ....but what are the chances of the BBBC calling both men in for bringing the sport into disrepute... probably about the same chance as there is of Williams coming in at under 17 stone for a fight...

He was always at the shows in the old days when Frank had Bugner, Gumbs, Wallace etc.

Apparently Bruno never used to lift very heavy weights in any case.
Yeah right.

Weights when done certain ways build stamina and are an underated fat burner. Danny does look better than the shape he showed in the second Skelton fight though.

Maybe under pressure to sell the show more because of Harrison pulling out?

No no, the lobsters were very much alive, but we failed to removed the 'vein' as they call it in the tail, which is a polite euphamism for the poop shoot, so we eat the pre turd gack destined for the briny along with all that tasty meat.

24 hours of severe vomiting, shitting and stomach cramps, followed by three days of being confined to bed sweating and feeling delirious. Those bastard lobster certainly got us back for our schoolboy error.

I think the reason people weigh more during training is they do eat more, I find when doing powerlifting i eat a lot more than when i had time off. If you dont eat enough during the time you are working out you will feel lathargic and unable to lift heavier weights. Don't know the science of it but it is deffinently why you put on weight.
