Replay of Duran v Cuevas

Post by paluca »

Did anyone see the replay last night? I always admired Durans abilities, but watching the replays last night I am even more impressed. His ability to stand in front of an opponent and avoid punches was truly amazing. They also showed him destroy the much younger Davey Moore, WOW. I first began watching Duran as welterweight and can only imagine his dominance as a lightweight.

PS. Although I have enjoyed this site for some time, this is my first post. The information and observations shared here are a must for real boxing fans. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. If you want to see Duran at his best skillwise, I'd recommend the Palomino, DeJesus (III) and Leonard (I) fights.

His induction to Canastota is great news...and these fights mentioned are some of the reasons he should be there with top honors.

Duran Fights Last Night.

Post by Scypion »

Hi. I saw those fights last night also. What a great surprise. I was channel surfing when I saw that there was boxing on the VS channel. It didn't say what fights were on, so I was expecting some mediocre fights from a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe it when they started showing Duran-Cuevas and Duran-Moore.

I never saw those fights at the time, but I knew the outcome. It was great to see both of those fights for the first time.

They were talking later about Duran's fight against Iran Barkley. I hope that they show that one on the VS channel (or any other channel) soon.

Every time I think of Duran-Barkley it amazes me that he won that fight.
Right before he fought him he took on a kid named Jeff Lanas at the Chicago Ampitheatre.
I was ringside for that fight and I thought Lanas beat him.
Roberto didnt look good at all.
A shakey knockdown of Lanas was the differince.
Then he turns around shortly after and looks good against Barkley.

The VS channel is a regular cable channel. I live in upstate New York, so for me it is channel 69 and channel 401. I don't know about other areas.

I happened to stumble on it and watched. Oh the memories of Duran as he slowly destroyed his opponents with his under rated boxing abilities. He was any fighters nightmare, when he was on...... :TU: To think what he would do to the likes of a Whitaker, is a real pleasure!!

When they show the Duran barkley fight watch Duran's expression - and particularly his eyes - as they do the pre-fight announcements. Look of a man who is ready to fight to the death, and knows in his heart he can win. Also an amazing performance by RD given his age and the length of career.
