My dad seen Danny moyer vs mundine many years ago, and my dad always says that was Mundine at his best. He also claimed that Danny Moyer was a classy fighter at the time.
Id just like to ask you guys, what are your thoughts on the guy, and how would he handle todays fighters.
how good was Denny Moyer
Moyer was a solid professional who had a long career and could hold his own with most of the fighters of his day. Good boxer, knew how to take care of himself - tended to be defensive and often regarded as "dull". Lost most of the ones that really mattered against the top guys, and of course won against Sugar Ray Robinson when Ray was in decline.
Against today's fighters, I'd say he'd be much the same in terms of achievement - losing the big ones. Not sure his style would endear him to today's TV-led fans.
His brother Phil was of course also a good fighter.l

Fight fans here in Chicago still talk about Moyer beating a built up Rocky Difazio here.Difazio hadnt fought anyone and his team thought they were gonna bring Moyer in to town to be the first name win on Rockys record. Bad move . Moyer beat Difazio like a drum stopping him in the tenth round at the old ampitheatre. Moyer was as slick and cagey as they come. Beat some good fighters also.
