Amir Khan thinks he'll be ready for a world title shot within five fights. Well if he can beat British Champion and true warrior John Thaxton, instead of blown up, non punching super featherweights I'll begin to take him seriously!

The guys got tremendous talent but he's not really been hit back yet!

Great to see Thaxton get the title last night. Since he begun his career I've always admired this true fighting man!

khan is know where near ready for a in form thaxton no way in a million years will mr khans promoter going to put him in with anyone dangerous.amir will be 30 without loss before he fights anyone we have even heard of.

Khan won't even be ready for Thaxton in five fights time, let alone a genuine title shot. If he is moved that quickly, there is a real chance that the kid will be ruined by his early twenties. That'd be a waste that borders on criminal. So luckily, this is just hot air.

I think he needs 8 more fights before even considering British title fights let alone 'world'... unless its the WBF or IBA of course.

Why would it be a waste? for me it would be far more entertaining than watching him fight bums for the next 7 years.

And i would pay a high price to watch his peoples face sat at ring side while Khan is out cold on the mat.

I never liked Thaxton in the 90's but now he aint talking rubbish about how good he is i like watching him as he always gives 100%

Where did I suggest that? I just think that there would be little point in dishing him up to Thaxton while he's just learning his trade. There's no reason why he can't be a genuine world champion without being matched too tough, too quickly. As I said, it's just hot air anyway.

hamed in his prime was the real deal.

i'm not convinced about khan either, but he deserves the time and chance to prove us all wrong.

I agree, if you take away the odd flash flurry there realy is not a great deal to Khan and his style will never suit the pros like Hamed's....Naz always had the equiliser and reflexes like a cat....they can try to improve Khan all they want but he will never have either of those.

I think Khan's opponent was a tougher & more durable box/fighter than we're giving credit here...does that put Amir in the clear?

Not at all, I'm a little worried...looks like another long WBO road, the safer route to travel.

The guy had 0 stoppages on his record....and it's a good job because some of the punches he caught Khan with would have KTFO Khan.

I think Khan should be matched with Danny Hunt next. I think this would be a good test for Khan.

The general consensus seems to be that Khan won't be ready for Thaxton in 5 fights time, so a world title is even further off.

Problem is that the average guy on the street believes the hype, but real boxing fans know the score.

I feel Khan is vulnerable because he believes the hype his entourage generate.

Great talent, but for me he's not been hit properly yet. I suspect his chin is not that great.

Why do people still make comparisons between Naz and Khan? Despite them being hyped and being Muslims, they don't have anything else in common.
