Name the ITV blunders

Post by stujones »

There were loads tonight of blunders or wrong use of words.... anyone remember them all.

Duke McKenzie said some like... This Southern Area title fight, isn't for any title but its as good as many a title fight? Ummm Southern Area.

GABRIEL CLARKE - WHAT AN IDIOT.... DOES THIS GUY KNOW HOW TO ASK THE QUESTIONS OR NOT. TALKING ABOUT TO BRUNO ABOUT "YOU CANNOT GET YOUR HEAD SORTED FOR THIS".... What a plonker, Gabriel was only talking about his prediction for the heavyweight fight, but Bruno definately seemed to think he was having a dig about his problems.... and so did I at first.

They were the two that stuck in my head, any others.

I mentioned on the other thread Jim Rosenthal's "No belts on the line in tonight's big heavyweight title fight."

But to be fair to Jim it was probably on the autocue.

Grabriel was taking the piss, I am pretty sure, in asking that question. Poor old Bruno looked like he was paranoid with the question when he should have taken the prick's head off on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Barry McGuigan on Scott Harrison : "He needs to get in the right state of mind, both mentally and physically."
WTF does that mean?

I didn't get to hear the commentary, only watch so couldn't comment. But I expect Duke McKenzie came out with a few corkers.

Also rawlinson went absolutely ballistic during the fight when dean threw a right hand but on the replay it showed the right hand didnt land. That was well funny. :TU:

he does that a lot and similar things too, for instance in the Khan fight, Khan throws a long corkscrew left uppercut which is called as a "fantastic right hand, up and over"
Those two are a joke. It really makes watching it a wincesome experience.

Yes that was very poor. Gabriel Clarke either made a genuine mistake or is just a ignorant smart ass, who enjoys kicking people whilst their down.

Either way his manager needs to have a word with him and remind him to put his brain in gear before opening his mouth. He only has to ask a few straight forward, simple questions if he can't even manage a simple task like that then he is in the wrong job to be honest.

What always cracks me up about about Duke and Rawlings is when Jim Rosenthal introduces them and they cut to a shot of them smiling into the camera and they look like two schoolkids who have just been caught with wank mags or something.

It's a toss-up who's asked the more embarrassing questions at ringside on national tv, is it Clarke, or Gary Richardson?

It makes you long for the days of Jim "round the corner right hook" Neily.

Its pisses me off when Amir Khan takes a shot and Rawling starts to panic and acts like he's badly hurt. Uh, its boxing, you're supposed to get hit some.

Rawling is in the lead out of dumb & dumber for comparing Andrew Facey's jab to Tommy Hearns's the other week. :o

I'm sure Rawling has some kind of clause in his contract that impels him to exaggerate the importance of everything. Audley beats an out of shape last minute stand-in Danny Williams and all of a sudden he's 'world class'... and Jim Resenthal was just as bad.

Lol about Rawling getting ahead of himself. In the Skelton/Williams rematc in one of the last rds, Williams take a hail mary beer swing and bellyflops to the floor. Rawling

"Oh disgraceful! i do believe the referee is going to take a point from Skelton!!"

Duke: "Erm no, Williams just fell over"

Rawling: "Oh. Right..."

In fairness to John im sure live commentary is pretty hard, and on saturday i actually thought for once he was less a Khan shill and slightly more willing to criticise him i.e. when his chins wide open, when he went down etc...
